The Why

We Were Searching Too

Kirrin Finch is a conscientious clothing company, founded by Brooklyn-based couple Laura Moffat and Kelly Sanders Moffat, that meets the growing demand for gender-defying fashion by creating menswear-inspired apparel designed to fit a range of female and non-binary bodies. The inspiration for the business was borne out of our own frustration at being unable to find clothes that match our personal style. As women who tend to gravitate towards button-up shirts and bow ties, we often find ourselves envying the clothes in the men's section, but are always frustrated because they are not designed to fit a woman's body.

A Brand Beyond Us

Behind Our Name

The name, Kirrin Finch, was inspired by iconic fictional tomboys "Georgina Kirrin" from The Famous Five series and "Scout Finch" from To Kill A Mockingbird. Both these characters embrace the tomboy spirit and are not constrained by society's views of how a woman should behave or dress. You'll probably notice that each shirt takes on the name of a tomboy character.

The Who

Meet the Team

Although we don't come from a traditional fashion background, Kelly was a teacher in the NYC public school system and Laura has a Neuroscience PhD and is a former marketing consultant, we are no longer willing to settle for ill-fitting menswear or overly frilly womenswear. So, we decided to join the movement that rejects traditional stereotypes and gives people the freedom to be their true selves.

Kelly Moffat

Co-Founder | Chief Operations Officer

Kelly is a proud mom of twins Jasper and Piper. She hung up her soccer cleats many moons ago, but loved her time playing in college. She can often be found waving a Human Rights Campaign flag. She is happiest sitting in front of a campfire with friends, food and a tasty beer. She's come around to the idea of cats, but shhh don't tell Laura.

Laura Moffat

Laura grew up in Scotland and came to the US to pursue her dream to be a professional golfer. Almost 20 years later, with little to no time out on the links, she would consider herself a better marketer than a golfer. She loves cats, tasty food, well-made drinks, traveling, modern design and, of course, Kelly and their twins.

Doreen Pierre

Director of Content & Social Strategy

Doreen is a multidisciplinary creative from Elizabeth, NJ who feels the most alive when working at the intersections of inclusive fashion design and visual content creation in service of promoting the visibility of marginalized communities. She's excited whenever she's able to pursue deep knowledge, identify patterns, see new places, try new crafts, and meet new people!

Frederick McDavid

Ecommerce Director

Freddy is native to Georgetown, Guyana but Brooklyn is the city that raised him. His loves include piecing together a well coordinated outfit, experimenting in the kitchen, and collecting vinyl (he’ll even listen to them on occasion!). When not lost in the world of e-commerce you can find him at a music venue or enjoying a craft cocktail at the bar.

Ali Williams

Director of Production

Ali studied musical theatre & education in undergrad. In a thrilling plot-twist she ended up working in the fashion industry. On weekends you'll find her spending time with her daughter Paloma, or tackling one of her home's many DIY projects. Ali hugged Stevie Wonder in an airport once, is a member of the Bey-hive, and loves horses.

Nicholas Chui

Associate Director of Design + Product Development

Nicholas loves to be surrounded by art and nature and doesn't back down from an Iron Chef challenge. He grew up in Texas thinking he would become a dress designer, however his passion for menswear evolved into a spirited energy that he loves to share with everyone. He is a new plant daddy, a quilter, and a former Argentine tango instructor. His happy place is watching the sunset over the ocean.

Associate Director of Operations & Logistics

Shakarah grew up in Brooklyn, NY. They have 3 siblings, so they enjoy healthy competition. When they’re not strategizing, you can find them playing board games, cooking, and traveling.

Angelica Ambriz

Graphic Designer

Angelica, a California native, Brooklyn based graphic designer finds continuous inspiration through the subcultures of New York City. She loves traveling, connecting with new people, and experiencing new things such as arts, music and food.

Christina Sanabia
(She/Her)

Senior Fulfillment Specialist

Christina grew up in Harrison, NY, she played field hockey in middle school and high school. Christina eventually found her way to Brooklyn. She is passionate about human rights, hence , her Bachlors in politics and human rights, she also loves dogs and has experience in training labs for war veterans. Christina loves the outdoors and can be found in a park admiring mother nature’s gift.

Jess grew up in East NY Brooklyn, the best borough in NYC. The eldest of a large family, she spent a lot of her childhood in Honduras and has fond memories from that time. She is passionate about photography and loves exploring the city and taking photos on film.
