WHAT IS A GHOSTKUBE?
A GHOSTKUBE is a sculpture inspired by moving origami. It consists of cubes connected in a three-dimensional structure. You can manipulate it to change shapes in different ways. It is made from a system of pieces that lock together. When you want to try another design, you simply take it apart and build a different one using the exact same pieces. No matter if you are developing probes for you next Mars mission, constructing skyscrapers, or looking at atomic structures for nano technology, GHOSTKUBES can serve as an inspiration and a tool for creativity. What you see in the film is NOT a 3D printed prototype, it is a finished product from an industrial mold. I wanted to be 100% sure that I could offer a product that worked exactly as I intended. Building and disassembly instructions will be published online.
PLEDGE REWARDS IN PICTURES
The GHOSTKUBE comes in Cream White. The KEYSTONE, which is a loose single cube, comes in Moon Gray. Both have a matte finish.
Small Box
This box can build GHOSTKUBES which consist of up to 12 single cubes. Here are examples of what you can build with the pieces in the small box:
Examples of GHOSTKUBES that can be built with the pieces in the small box.
GHOSTKUBE PI-2 can be built with the pieces in the small box.
GHOSTKUBE MA-2 can be built with the pieces in the small box.
GHOSTKUBE TF-2 can be built with the pieces in the small box.
Big Box
The big box makes it possible to build any two GHOSTKUBES possible from the small box. It can build GHOSTKUBES which consist of up to 24 single cubes. Here are some examples of what you can build with the pieces in the big box:
Examples of GHOSTKUBES that can be built with the pieces in the big box.
GHOSTKUBE TF-6 can be built with the pieces in the big box.
GHOSTKUBE VH-2 can be built with the pieces in the big box.
GHOSTKUBE NI-3 can be built with the pieces in the big box.
GHOSTKUBE MA-3 can be built with the pieces in the big box.
Keystone
A KEYSTONE is a loose, single cube that you can use to lock a GHOSTKUBE into one position so it will no longer be able to change shape. This is great for display purposes or for adding stability to larger structures. It comes in Moon Gray.
A KEYSTONE can be inserted in an extended GHOSTKUBE to lock it into position. It comes in Moon Gray.
Friend Set
The Friend Set is perfect if you have a friend you want to give a GHOSTKUBE to and you also want to have one for yourself. Or you could just be extra enthusiastic and want to have more options for your own constructions.
This set can build GHOSTKUBES, which consist of up to 48 single cubes.
The Friend Set contains: 2x GHOSTKUBE big box + 4x KEYSTONE
With two big boxes you can build several GHOSTKUBES and combine them into towers. Example: MA-3, NI-3, KEYSTONE.
Architect Set
If you want to have several completed GHOSTKUBE designs at the same time, combine them into towers, or build really complex configurations, this is the reward for you.
This set can build GHOSTKUBES, which consist of up to 96 single cubes.
The Architect Set contains: 4x GHOSTKUBE big box + 6x KEYSTONE
Example of three GHOSTKUBES combined to a tower.
Master Builder Set
Maximize the possibilities with this set! I have invented hundreds of variations and will be releasing instructional videos so you will be able to really explore the possibilities of shape changing 3D space and structures.
This set can build GHOSTKUBES, which consist of up to 144 single cubes.
The Master Builder Set contains: 6x GHOSTKUBE big box + 10x KEYSTONE
HOW OLD SHOULD YOU BE / HOW HARD IS IT TO BUILD / HOW FRAGILE IS IT?
See it as a plastic model airplane in terms of difficulty and fragility. It is actually not as fragile or as difficult as that, but if that is what you expect, you will be fine. I do not want to make false claims in relation to the expectations for the product or disappoint anyone because they cannot build it. A child might need the assistance of an adult, but could eventually learn to build it without help in a reasonable amount of time. I would probably say that somewhere around 10-12 years old is the minimum age where a child could construct these. The instructions will be in video format, with English as the spoken language. Additional languages or subtitles may be added one day but until then, look at the film to understand what I am doing and follow along to complete your build!
TIMELINE
DELIVERY
We estimate that delivery will start in July 2019.
Many backers will be wanting to give a GHOSTKUBE as a present to their friends or family for the holidays. I know that GHOSTKUBE will make a great gift for Christmas, Hanukkah, or whichever holiday(s) you may celebrate, therefore I have made a printable gift certificate that you can give to your friends to let them know that a GHOSTKUBE is coming their way!
