I tried some others but had issues since I have no C-wire. I have a variable speed (with only 1 wire), propane furnace; no AC. I have just 2 wires to the thermostat- W and Rh. You charge this thermostat prior to using (even though it doesn't tell you to). I have had it for 2 weeks (in winter). I have had no issues at all (the others dropped wi-fi frequently and drained batteries every few days). There is always the option to charge it, though I haven't needed to at all. Working for my tricky setup!

Working without C Wire

When one of our thermostats went out, I had planned on replacing it with a similar one. My 15 year old son convinced me to not only replace that one with a Google Nest smart thermostat, but to replace our other thermostat with one as well.
When these arrived, my son had researched how to install them. While my husband simply supervised, my 15 year old completely removed the old thermostats and installed the new ones. They are working well and we are pleased with them.

Easy installation; efficient functioning

Super easy installation that took minutes.  I love that I can control the temperature from the app on my phone because sometimes my schedule changes when I'm away from home, or I forget to change it before I get into bed.  Saves money, too.  Highly recommended!

I have a previous version of this and I would buy it again. The installation is very simple and guided. Furthermore, manipulating the thermostat is simple and its appearance is elegant. I would definitely buy the same thermostat again if it were damaged.

The installation instructions are not terribly clear on this. While I love the product now that it's working, I didn't know which wires I needed to use to actually operate it. For my system, the power for the thermostat is actually drawn from the red wire (Rc).  I thought I needed the blue wire also (common).  After calling Nest, and telling them what was hooked up, they told me to unhook that blue wire and then everything worked fine.  if your old thermostat does not use it, then your new one does not need it, FYI, in my experience.

Don't need all wires

1 out of 3 doesn't hold charge.  I purchased 3 of these, all 3 locations have a C wire.  1 of the devices doesn't hold a charge and constantly dies.  It turns off the wifi mode and then will come back on for a short period of time before dying again.  Definitely a dud.

Bought two units and when they came they are obviously used!!  One box was packed so poorly it wouldn't even close all the way. The other box was ripped but put together with a bunch of packaging tape. Nowhere on this listing did it state the items were used or refurbished!  Will definitely be returning them.
