Rust Bullet - Automotive
Tested and Proven to be the best. Nothing on the market compares. We are Focused on providing products that are safe for the environment, without losing quality. Although all Rust Bullet Coatings can be brushed or rolled, our Automotive Formula contains more metal and is a bit thinner than our Industrial Formula. This allows for an easy application with HVLP spray equipment and provides a smoother finish usually desired for automotive projects.

I used this stuff to paint some rusty places underneath my car. (Be sure NOT to shake the can to mix the paint! Stir it with a popsicle stick, or whatever.) Painted one coat and waited overnight. I am impressed at how good it looks, with just one coat. I painted over some pretty bad rusty spots, and it adhered really well. Looks great actually. A bonus is that the color is almost identical to the color of my car. My only wish is that I had known how well it covers. I should have gotten the 4 ounce can. But since I have the large can, I plan to paint everything rusty under the can that I can reach, and give it all numerous coats. Even so, I will have alot left over. But, it is worth the $35 I paid, just to get everything done. With 5 or 6 coats, this stuff should be bullet proof, if the first coat is any indication. I live in Maine, so we will see how well the paint holds up under a Maine winter and the major road salt we live with. For now, I'm very happy with the product.
It’s best to apply 2nd coat while paint is still tacky, therefore it made it a little bit difficult the second time around.
I decided to apply a top coat because I was stuck on the glossy black look, similar to por-15. I ended up using rustoleum from the big box store as its cheap and has good results. Again having to apply the 2 coats while tacky was a challenge.
While it ended up coming out the way I envisioned, if I could go back I would have left the rust bullet as is. It says you don’t need a top coat and it looked so clean and the paint was so level that top coat really wasn’t necessary. My plan was to cover everything in Dynamat, so I’m not going to see it, just felt the topcoat was an added layer of protection from rust.
As far as durability time will tell, I just applied this last month. I did not have a lot of rust to begin with, and with it covered by Dynamat I won’t know for sure unless I decide to remove it at some point.
