Our friends at @hoka joined us this week for some ivy pulling on the Wildwood Trail. A couple of these Hoka volunteers also took on a side project, with @wjbannister helping repair a portion of trail. Check out these pictures from Bill to see their progress!

Earlier this month, we filed to appeal the approval of Phase 3 of the Harborton Reliability Project due to its impacts on Forest Park, among other factors. If you'd like to learn more about Harborton and hear both our and PGE's perspectives, tune in at noon today to listen to Think Out Loud live.

Spring is here! With the sun finally making some a

Spring is here! With the sun finally making some appearance, people are bringing their dogs out on the trails. And while we love to see dogs out on the trails, it's important that we be mindful of others while out on the trails with our furry friends. Park rules require you to leash your dog and pick up after them, and doing so is a part of being a mindful park user.

Off-leash dogs are one of the most common issues that parks users reach out to us with concerns about. Just some of the issues off-leash dogs cause include interfering with service animals, running into trail users or maintenance staff, disturbing wildlife, or, as we received a report on last weekend, biting park users.

Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park are for everyone, including our dogs, so let's all continue to be responsible and mindful park users this spring! Make sure to grab a leash and a poop bag before you head out on the trails! If you want to let your dog off-leash, you can find one of over 30 off-leash sites on @portlandparks's website.

There is still space at this Saturday's ambassador training! If you love Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park, consider becoming a forest ambassador. Forest ambassadors greet people coming into the parks, provide information, and more!

Earlier this month the City Hearings Office grante

Earlier this month the City Hearings Office granted PGE an approval for Phase 3 of the Harborton Reliability Project. This decision would allow for the removal of nearly 400 living trees in Forest Park, permanently fill two wetlands, impact multiple streams, and disrupt sensitive wildlife habitat. Our organization holds that this proposal is in direct opposition to the goals and guidelines of the Forest Park Natural Resources Management Plan and we agree with the City of Portland Staff Report that recommends to deny the approval.

In order to protect Forest Park, we have filed an appeal with the city in order to argue our case to Portland City Council. We will be providing more information on how concerned community members can support our appeal as this process unfolds. Want to share your love of Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park? Become a forest ambassador!

Forest ambassadors are stationed at trailheads in the park, and occasionally at events, to welcome, guide, and educate park users. This helps to create a more welcoming atmosphere in Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park, as well as an opportunity for park users to learn more about the work that goes into maintaining these parks.
