- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2012Color: BlackVerified PurchaseOn a previous vacation I had taken a similar latex clothesline purchased elsewhere. While it worked ok, it simply had latex loops at each end and this meant that I could not attach both ends to a pole or other item. The Lewis N Clark clothesline has a strip of strong Velcro at each end that can be wrapped around most anything. These held well and made the clothesline usable in many more situations. It also has suction cups, but as other reviewers note, they are useless. Luckily they can be ignored. I was a bit concerned that the black colored latex might discolor clothes, but I did not find that to be the case.
Edit: June 19, 2015
Ok, it's three years later and the clothesline broke. What happened is that the rubber tube that serves as a strain relief on the connection to the end had slipped down the line, allowing the rubber to bend at the point where it enters the plastic fitting. Enough of this, with tension, and it snapped. I was able to resurrect it by tying a knot in the line, but for six bucks I don't mind replacing it, so I bought another. This time I will be more careful about the strain relief.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2020Color: BlackVerified PurchaseThere are some shirts I have that need to be hand washed. My problem, is finding a place to hang them up to air dry, without them dripping all over my floor. I usually resort to rolling them up in a towel to dry. I saw this and decided to try it. It is not long enough to hang end to end in my shower, so I have one and connected to the shower curtain bar with the Velcro strap attached. The other end goes across my shower and stuck to the shower wall. My concern was that when I hung my two wet shirts on it to dry yesterday, that the suction wasn’t gonna work. Boy, was I wrong! It held both my wet shirts, and the suction cup never slid one iota. If you need to air dry clothes, I would definitely recommend this. I like the braiding, it holds my shirts on there well. It has a suction cup on both ends, it has a Velcro strap on both ends, so you have options depending on where you’re hanging it up.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2015Color: BlackVerified PurchaseI bought this one because it has both suction cups and Velcro ends, which is more flexible to use one different surface/object. One of the suction cups on mine was not working, but the Velcro ends are more useful in my opinion anyway.
We used it a few times during our trip in the hotels and it worked perfectly on different locations. For example, we use the good suction cup on mirror closet door, the velcro on a lamp. we put socks, underwear, and even shirts on it. We put clothes draping over the clothes line, or put the item directly thru the braids, or put the hanger thru the braids; they all worked well.
It's a handy item to have if you want to travel light.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2014Color: BlackVerified PurchaseI have used clotheslines in the past for travelling, in fact, I don't like to leave home without one! Next time, I would pass on this one though. It broke the second time that I used it. It snapped along the fastening point between the line and the holding part at the end. I did have it stretched out, but not even all the way, and loaded up. I used a rubber clothesline from Magellan for ~3 years and put LOADS of stuff on it, carried it around Europe and around Asia in winter/desert/very hot and humid conditions, it finally disintegrated after much abuse. Very disappointing. The velcro straps are pretty short as well. I'll go back to the Magellan one, though I would have preferred this for the end straps and the black color.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2019Color: BlackVerified PurchaseI love that this clothesline doesn't use or require any clips. That makes it very easy to pack. The issue is that it just doesn't work well as a clothesline to hang in a shower when traveling (which is what I wanted it for). Why? The suction cups are totally worthless. They won't even hold the weight of the cord itself when it is taut, much less would they hold when you attach any clothing. So, then your only option for hanging it in the shower is to attach the ends to something in the shower, like the shower head or shower rod or towel bars. The problem with that (other than not wanting to put stress on the shower head!) is that the cord is relatively short. You can stretch it out, but then it is pulling constantly - like a REALLY strong rubber band that you've stretched. Since your only option is to use the velcro straps at the ends, you wind up being concerned that one of the straps will fail under the pressure and the whole line will snap back at hit something - or someone. I took this clothesline with me to five different places and never found it to be an ideal fit in any of those situations. It's better than nothing, but it certainly wasn't ideal. I'll be looking for another solution.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2019Color: BlackVerified PurchaseAlthough this had a little less length than imagined, it was a lifesaver on a recent cruise! Our family of 6 set sail with carryon only, for an Alaskan adventure. Much to my surprise, there was no retractable clothes line in the shower of our bathroom! My daughters had one in their bathroom, but for 6 people, this was not enough. This was just fantastic, for drying out swimsuits and hanging up sink-washed hiking pants and UPF shirts, to dry overnight. It suctioned well to glass/tile for a few days until I had to use it with a grab-bar and glass. Love that each end has so many options for attachment. I can't imagine what we must have looked like, to the housekeeping staff, but oh, well! I like to spend my hard-earned money on true enjoyment. Having to spend $8 to have a pair of pants cleaned by the ship's laundry service, does not fall in this category. This was fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product
Color: BlackVerified PurchaseThis is the 5th Lewis N Clark clothesline I've bought. Previous ones don't have the storage bag. I like this triple entwined version more than the double twisted type from other suppliers. I've found it strong and can stretch over typical bath tubs in hotels. I used them to dry my clothes overnight when traveling abroad to minimize my luggage space and weight. The tension on the triple entwined wires keeps my wet clothes relatively horizontal without much sinking down.
As for the new tiny sag that comes with the clothesline, I am not sure if it is a plus or not. With all the ones I have without the sag, I can just roll up the wires and use the velcro at one end of the wire to tie them up. Simple. For this new one with the sag, I may need to take time to stuff the things back into the sag. Well, only time can tell if it is useful.
Yes, the suction cups suck! I have to replace all of them from ones I bought from Dollars store. The replacement is easy. Just don't understand, with the high price we paid for this, why on earth that the manufacturer still provides us with suction cups inferior to those from Dollars store!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but one suction cup doesn’t stick
Color: BlackVerified PurchaseI like the product and it’s useful, but disappointed that one suction cup will not stick to anything. One grips strongly but the other doesn’t stick at all, wet or not. I have to use the Velcro to tie one end on something so always need to look for an anchoring spot.other reviews have said the same thing. I still would recommend buying but just be aware.
