Great ladder shelfMaggiGood value for a beautiful quality wood. The small stool that fits perfectly underneath is a cute and practical addition. I love that I can now oil the birch and enhance the lovely wood.5

Beautiful and toughAnonymousIt's a great shelf, and is very attractive in a bathroom or other area with the light finish to the wood. But assembly can be harder than it looks, as the material is very hard timber, and the ibclused instructions in the box are not the best way to assemble the shelf because of the gap between the edge of the horizontal shelves and where the structure on the verticle sides attaches in the middle of the horizontal shelves. I struggled for a while following the instructions included with the shelf, before giving up trying to do it the right way and assembling it how I do most shelves like this: First, put pegs in the two holes on one side of the two peg-connected shelves (shelf numbers 2 and 4), then attach these with the other holes on the other side against the floor, and place the vehicle side brackets horizontally across the top. Tap the spot above the pegs with a soft mallet, or a hammer with some of the spacer cardboard structures on top of the wood where you tap, to protect the wood. It should kind of be like a table now, with the two pegged shelves as legs and the side brace as the top. Using the two pegged shelves as stabilising legs, you can then slide the odd-numbered shelves into the grooves in the side brace (which is horizontal), and then attach them with the screws. You may need to pull together or push the horizontally-placed brace very gently to get the screws to line up and bite into the pilot holes, and I recommend you go along the six screws and get them pre-bit slightly into each pilot hole before going over them again to fasten them down securely. Then flip it over, and repeat for the other side. You definitely need the black plastic extension for the key tool, or a drill will good torque, as the timber is very tough like most pine pieces from IKEA. I like these pieces for this very reason, as it means they will last longer than the laminate stuff, and you can put your own finish or paint on them. But it does mean that you will sweat a little while assembling it if you don't have a drill, or you're not very experienced with the solid wood pieces from IKEA. If the instructions were better I would give this five stars, but just FYI if you struggle or haven't assembled many IKEA pieces before.4
Handy pieceKatherineWe bought this to fill a spot in our living room and it works really well. Its nice and neutral - light weight but held together well. We have our modem sitting on the bottom shelf and plants on the rest. Works a treat!5

Clean LinesAnonymousGlad we returned after the [November] store evacuation to chase this item up as it sits perfectly in the bathroom space. It also suits our country-style, slightly rustic decor. Considering a second one, or something similar in the natural birch, when time and budget allow both a return to the city and Ikea. The joys of country living! Patience.5
