    The Gold Standard

    by P. on 3/13/20

There is Wire...and then everyone else. Nothing left to say.

    Wire-pure genius

by mykl66 on 6/8/15Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Wire simply got up on stage and delivered what they are known for-minimal, post-rock with an energy and style that goes unequaled by the thousands of imitators. These guys invented the genre of post punk before punk was flourishing. And they still nail it today.

Wire @ Sinclair Cambridge, MA 6/2/15

by SkullnRoses on 6/8/15The Sinclair - Cambridge

one thing about a band that shot out of the gate in the late 70’s and is still with it 35 years later is that they have a lot of songs that they love but you don’t know / can’t remember etc. Such as it was this night. They played their new album and selected others. It was fun, nothing sounded out of place, but for the first time in as long as I can remember, I saw a band that I really liked where I only knew one song.

    WIRE gets better & better!

by MrMaxMeanie on 6/6/15Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

This was my 8th WIRE show over the last 4 decades. The 1st was the IDEAL COPY tour. WIRE is able to pull off playing songs that are beautiful & melodic as well as loud & brutal. I felt high when I left. Definitely recommended! GO SEE THEM!!!

Great to see an iconic band live

by PromoTheRobot on 6/6/15The Sinclair - Cambridge

Wire is one of those bands you never heard of, but every band you know and like was inspired and influenced by them. 3 of the 4 original members are still in the group including lead singer Colin Newman. They played 20 songs over 90 minutes, including all 11 tracks from their new album "Wire." One song was totally new so only 8 came from their vast back catalog. It was a thrill to see them

    Do you have any sandwiches??

by Anonymous on 6/5/15The Sinclair - Cambridge

Boring!!!! Left after six songs. Was really expecting a lot more out of this band, but they were pretty much mailing it in.

3 old guys and a youth

    by Smiler02138 on 7/16/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

Having only just managed to climb the Sinclair steps with my 21 year old, arthritic back and zimmer frame, the last thing i wanted to do was pogo around the room like the crazed northern thug I once was. But once the wire boys got on stage and slowly ramped up the sounds into the crazed onslaught I had been missing for all these years did the limbs loosen up. Great show.

    Wire

by tagdon on 7/16/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

There is something about Wire that separates them from other bands of their era and makes them relevant all these years later. Overheard hipster comment: "I don't think there are any bands playing today that will sound this good thirty-five years later." The truth.

One of the Best Bands of all time!

by artbyme on 4/15/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

If you have never seen Wire, I suggest you do so. These guys are, and have been for the last 30 years or so, one of the most influential bands of all time. Original guitarist Bruce Gilbert has left the band, but Matt Simms has filled in quite nicely. The other original members, Colin Newman (vocalist, guitarist), Graham Lewis (bass, vocalist), and Robert Gotobed (drummer) were dead on. They are true masters of their craft.

    Wire was outstanding

by Stoviak on 4/12/11First Avenue - Minneapolis

I've seen Wire before and this was the best of them all. The previous shows featured short sets with no encore and little from their past work. The Minneapolis show was full set of old and new with great energy. This band really BROUGHT IT on Sunday night.
