I would say about 2 feet. That way it can hang and rotate easily. You won't be disappointed with this product!

Mine is about 2 feet across when filled with shoes, some short boots and clogs. So a little more than 2 feet should be sufficient.

It depends on what you put in it. It doesn't take up much space. If you have heels in a shoe compartment, and it sticks out a little, you'll need clearance for the shoe. The width of the holder is about 18 inches. I have it in my small closet. Works well.

Alot! When it was empty I loved it. It fits alot of shoes & other stuff & can handle it well but it makes it super bulky & doesn't spin as freely when full of shoes. It also took up waaaay too much space in the closet, so I took it back because it wasn't saving me any space if I had nowhere to hang my clothes now..

Mine is in a space of 20" because that's the limit of the space I have. I do have to turn it carefully because it's a tight fit. Keep in mind this is with the pockets filled with my shoes. I suppose it would vary depending on what you put in the pockets and how big your shoes are! If you could allow another inch, it would be ideal!

Once I had heels and stuff in it it needed about 2 feet to no be hitting clothes

The hanger is in the middle of he carousel, so maybe 18 inch diameter. but if shoes are larger they lean out another 3-6 inches.

With shoes in the pockets it takes up about 18 inches width and hangs 51 inches from the rod to the bottom.

Mine hangs about 4 feet 5 inches from the metal bar when filled with shoes.

Mine, hanging full of shoes, is approximately 60 inches from the top of the handle on the rod to the bottom of the product.

This carousel holds about 30 pair of my size 9 shoes, sandals, and slippers. It's very strong and well made. I bought one made by Joy Mangano and it was a piece of junk. It collapsed immediately. This one is fully reinforced and I am so happy with it. I hope it is still available as I ordered 2 and only was able to get 1.

Works great

I shopped around and looked at several shoes organizers before deciding on this one. I needed one that held many pairs of shoes, was sturdy and could fit in my small entry closet. This is perfect - it hangs on the closet rod, stores a great many pairs (some of my pairs of flip flops will fit in one pocket), and rotates easily to find the pair you want. I also love the middle storage compartments for hats, gloves, and larger boots. One of the best products I've purchased in a long time.

Great way to organize shoes

I have TOO many shoes. I had them in boxes. But I had to open each box to find the one I wanted. I even forgot about some. But now I can SEE them. Now I shop in my own closet. It sturdy and well made. I love that it turns so I can see every pair

Very helpful for organization

Pockets are paper, so you have to be careful. The item it a great one. It takes up more room than you would like.

Not so sure this will hold up.

I bought two of these carousel organizers because I got the idea somewhere that I could store my smaller pieces of fabric on them. And I did! It works great! Even with a LOT of weight on them, they still hold and turn perfectly!

Great for crafts too!

My daughter needed more shelf space in the closet, so her shoes had to be relocated. This organizer worked because she had the hanging room on her longer rod. This also stored her scarfs, purses and smaller accessories. It eliminated 2 other smaller hanger organizers. Spins easily, just have to give it room to move freely.

Great organizer for teens

This helped clear up my shoe clutter, I hope it lasts! It does get heavy once it is filled with shoes so you will want to have a sturdy rod to hang it on. A good value @ a Walmart price, would not have paid the higher prices I saw elsewhere.

Does what I needed it to do.

It is very nice and works great. It does take up more space than expected in order to be able to spin freely. Wish there was room for boots

Works for my purpose. Roomy purse cubbies. Lots of pockets that I use for my leggings and tanks that tended to slip in the back of my folded stack of clothes. Allow for just enough clearance and the swivel makes search for the right item a breeze. A little missed stitch in the trim is not worth the hassle to return/ exchange the stock I got, but this has to be brought up, thus the one missing star.
