it was expected...needed to replace an old one that was worn.  the ones in the store was a retractable ribbon type so I had to order this one.  i even went to a pet store and the same leash was $24 and this one was only $12.

A retractable lead is INDISPENSABLE.  1. the lead never touches the ground- never gets dirty, especially in winter; 2. 16' length gives ample room for the dog to range well; 3. the excellent quality and construction ensure you enjoy those benefits for a long time.

Indispensable

Great price for these on Walmart.com and like that they have 3 colors to choose from.  Have 4 Lhasas so they work great.  Gonna order 3 more

We have two miniature Dachshunds--Hans and Hildy.  Hans weighs 20 pounds and is very rambunctious.  Hildy weighs 8 pounds and is very frisky.  They both handle well on this leash, and they love their leash (they both have one).

My wife and I (we are 87 and 79 years young) love the walk freedom that we have with the retractable leash.  No doubt about it--best we've ever owned!

Best I've ever owned!

I bought the medium #2 leash,  even though I have a very small dog,  she pulls a lot and was afraid it might not be enough for her.  It's a great product and very strong, I was pleasantly surprised.

Great quality

would trade my finger for one , ( if I had to !! ).  Have been using this brand for years , always replacing worn out ones . I use two in one hand , for smaller puppies ... always small ones but am having problem with a knuckle so am trading one for a medium . (big hands) .  
They work great , very dependable .. Pull isn't strong enough to strangle pup but pulls the slack back . (I keep my other hand free for emergency control of the cords .. easy enough to get a grip on the line with a free hand to pull them back if need be.)
Best retractable type out there for the price .. lasts a couple years even with multiple daily use .. just be sure to keep twisted lines from getting retracted . Great leash . I live in rural setting so the long leash is perfect . In the city a shorter one is better .. But I use the 16' cord . ( with both pups in either direction I got 32' of doggies !! ) This brand let's me control both leashes easily with one thumb . Other brands are harder to use cuz lever is more complicated .

Very dependable and easy to use and control .

Works great but would be nice if it had a larger clasp to hook to the collar.  It is hard to grab the little thumb latch.  If it had a larger clasp, i would rate it a 5 star.

Great leash

Cord retractables are less likely to get tangled when they are rolling back into the handle. This leash is perfect for cockers, beagles, and dogs under 45 lbs. I Am however using it for larger dogs and so far so good. I have had it three months and use it 4 times a day for walks. I miss my 26 foot cord retractable leashes. (they only make tapes now)

Note: flexi leashes are the only reliable retractables to buy -- PERIOD. 

The three star rating simply reflects the fact that the cord rather than tape version of this leash is a very silly economy. For a couple extra dollars, absolutely buy the tape.

The tape is easier to retract, less likely to tangle and if you need to grab it with your hand you won't get a rope burn.  Tape also lasts longer. Well worth a couple extra dollars.

note: if you get caught in the heavy rain with your Flexi leash, unspool it and hang to let it dry out after you get home 

Seems to make a huge difference to longevity of this product.

Flexi Leash RULES, but buy TAPE style, not cord!

I bought three of these and the three of them lasted about two weeks.  One of the leashes after I had hooked up my 5 lb puppy took the leed out and just kept on going.  There was no stop to the leash.  So a 70 year old man is running down the street chasing a puppy, hoping that he won't get hit by a car, or I die of a heart attack.
