Very deep, but works well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these to put in standard deep plastic (phenolic) surface mount boxes so I could mount them on a couple of desks. The plugs work fine, but these are very deep units. They were about a quarter inch deeper than the deep sized boxes. In order to get them flush, I had to use a dremel tool to cut out the back of the box and reduce the parts of the box were the units are screwed on (see photo) to get the cover plate flush with the box. The boxes were a lot harder to cut than I was expecting. The smarter thing to do to save time would be to just cut a couple of thin sheets of plastic or wood to glue to the sides of the box to cover the gap between the top of the box and the cover plate. Wood sides would be better looking too. I would buy again anyway, or maybe the 3.6A version instead. These get a lot better reviews than the other branded ones that are currently sold by Costco which appear just as deep.

Love that I can plug my iPhones and iPads directly into these outlets. Seems to charge all my devices faster. No bulky charging adapters anymore. Highly recommend. Easy to install if you know how to shut off power and work with electrical outlets.

I’ve never touched anything electrical before in my life. They were easy to install, fit just fine without any modifications needed and work great! I had just enough room to push the outlet into place as it is much deeper than the one it replaces. It's just been a week but I like the cleaner look in our living room. We have been using one electrical outlet and both USB ports and all is working well to this point.

- A:Answer The Dynex receptacles put out 2.4 amps total. The other receptacles you are referencing can do 3.6 amps I believe so definitely more output that would be better for tablets big phones etc. I don't know anything about Best Buy pricing and I am just an electrician and decided to answer some of the people's questions as a courtesy.

Q: QuestionHas anyone wired these to a wall switch? I replaced an outlet that was half powered by a wall switch with these and had an extra red wire connected to the old outlet for the wall switch. I wasn't sure how to wire that in. Any suggestions?

- A:Answer You have an outlet that is split into 2 parts. One part is hot or on all of the time and the other part goes on and off with the switch. This outlet will not allow you to wire it the same way as the old one. You can only connect the black wire (normally hot all the time) or the red wire that goes on and off with the switch. If you use this outlet you will have an extra wire since only one can be used. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionDoes this product have a "UL" (Underwriters Laboratories) listing/certification? fyi - for safety reasons, it's important to look for this certification for 120V devices (or the European version, although not as good).

This is Alexander and it will by my absolute pleasure to assist you today with your DX-HW24A182P Wall Outlet since you wonder how much Amps the outlets provide when both in use. I understand how important this is for you and now, after taking the time to research I was able to confirm that the energy splits to 1.2A and 1.2A when both outlets are in use for a total of 2.4A. So to those who said it is shared or 1.2A if both ports are used, yayy. To the others, please be more careful not to share incorrect info.

Q: QuestionI have a daisy chain configuration with 2 white and black wires. When I tried tightening down the screw with the two copper wires inserted, it would only hold one down snug while the other was loose. Is there a trick to get both wires tightened down?

- A:Answer Yes add pigtails which is just a short piece of wire. Splice one end to the outlet and the other to the other wires of same color. Use either wire nuts or push in connectors like wagos
