This is the perfect food for long term storage and it's very delicious.  These products will outlast me.

Mountain House

The chicken and dumplings was much better than I expected, which is to say I throughly enjoyed it! It reminded me of eating a chicken pot pie without all the crust. It had enough sustenance to it in it's consistency that you thought you were eating a meal prepared by mom for her hungry son. I would highly recommend it for any (backcountry) adventure.

My husband travels for work and often works long hours.  Chicken and Dumplings is his favorite to take as a "back up" dinner after a long day.  This way he doesn't have to leave the hotel room in order to have a hot dinner.  It can be made any time using hot water from the room coffee machine.  :-)

Avid kayak camper in Central Florida. We rely on dehydrated meals and other non perishable foods. Mountain House has always produced great meals some better than others like this one. But ask anyone who has eaten the chicken and dumpings and everyone including myself believes it taste more like chicken pot pie which for us is even better. Add some black pepper and it's 5 stars even though i think they mis labeled the flavor.

With my chronic back pain, there are times that I can't stand up very long to cook a nutritious meal, let alone go  thru the prep. I have an extensive variety of Mountain House meals on hand so my meals are never boring. The Chicken and Dumplings is a very good comfort food that takes me back to my Mom's cooking. It's one of my favorites.

I heard about how good "Chicken and Dumplings" were, so I purchased a few to try out. I was not disappointed at all, after adding a bit of salt and pepper it tasted like a home cooked meal. I would add though, that the instructions say to add 1-1/3 cups of water...I would add at least 1-3/4 cups. My first time using the product I added 1-1/2 and it was almost just right, as it still left some of the croutons crunchy, and the chicken gravy/filling a little thick. To me it tasted like the filling in a KFC pot pie.

Just as I hoped for...

We thought we'd give the Mountain House Chicken & Dumplings a try on a recent Boundary Waters canoe trip. We both agreed it tasted like a home cooked meal in the back country. The only advice we would give is to add a little more water than recommended and let it sit longer after the first stir. My meal had a few crunchy bits of dumplings (that look like croutons!) but it was fine.
