WD Easystore 10TB, usb 3.0
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had several of the WB "mybook" and they worked great. Purchased this one because of a Holiday Sale @ $175.00 and it included a free 32GB usb flash drive.. BONUS.!. The Easystore has an LED on it where the MYbook does not. The Hard drive in this Easystore was a White Label WD drive with 256MB Cache.. NICE.!! I removed the daughter/USB board and it worked like a normal SATA drive in my Tower PC.

Very practical, lots of space and a good price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Think it's good practice because I have more storage space at a reasonable price, so I can not worry about the disk space, and is a registered trademark of a good quality, indeed, excellent.

Sooo much Storage :)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great drive to add to a NAS device. Ripped the HDD out and its now in my NAS box. Make sure to test the drive for a few days before opening the encloser to avoid warranty issues if the HDD is DOA.

'Shuckin Awesome Deal, For those that know!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So like many who are looking at these WD EasyStore Externals, you are looking at these drives to shuck them and put them into a NAS or storage server. I've been eyeballing these drives for awhile at 8TB but wanted a little more capacity, and here they are. So the results? Outstanding so far! They are no longer WD "RED" under the NAS drive brand, but they are identical white label drives which differ only with their warranty. They are 10TB Helium EMAZ drives which are identical to the 5400RPM Red drives with 256MB of cache. Even if you don't shuck these drives and keep them in their USB 3.0 housing, they are an outstanding value and performance is solid with 204/207MB/s Seq. Read/Write. Personally, I found a great video on youtube to non-destructively shuck these drives and put them in my 4-bay WD NAS, then took the 4x2TB drives in there and put those drives in the Easystore housing for very solid USB 3.0 Housings that I will give away to relatives this holiday season. Win-win for everyone. This SKU is specific to BestBuy and also oomes with a 32GB USB drive that is PERFECT for stocking stuffer, or putting Windows Bootable images on. These drives are low stock but check back often as I am sure they will come back in and out of stock through the holiday season.

No more dual drives in one shell.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Glad to see that WD is streamlining their 'book' drives to go bigger yet get sleeker as the new 10TB external hard drives are hitting shelves. As a very avid consumer of WD drives (I also use Seagate for gaming as well), I prefer WD for the majority of my file storage and libraries. So when I saw the exceptional price of the EasyStore (Best Buy exclusive model MyBook also available) I decided to take the plunge & get one for my latest video file vaulting. Now although there are no security features with EasyStore (you can remedy that pretty quick) the fact that it's current price compared to the 10TB MYBook (which is about $90 more) & if you're looking at the 8TB (which is only $10 more for less space) it was a no-brainer to go 10 Easy, if you can. Added feature is that it comes with a 32GB thumb drive as well so Best Buy throws you a lil thank you as well. With this being on sale right now it's you 'Best' bang for your buck.

Not WD RED but still great for NAS/RAID
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many other people, I bought these with the intention of using then in a RAID or NAS. I was holding out for a couple of 8TB drives when these went on sale for less earlier in the month. Like I said, these are not WD RED, they’re WD WHITE, but they have the same 256mb cache. I used Blackmagic Design Speed Test and got around 200mb/s from each drive. My goal was to use them in a RAID 1 but I ditched that idea for keeping the disks independent inside of a single enclosure. The standard plastic case is probably fine, but I opted for an aluminum enclosure with a fan from OWC. If these are on sale again, they’re definitely great for shucking.

Tons of storage and fast!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this for a short while, but am very impressed with it! The drive has tons of space, is very fast, very quiet, and I got it for a great price on Black Friday 2018! Couldn't be happier with it!

Q: QuestionCan this hard drive work on a television. The new WD 4tb hard drive I purchased does not work when I plug it into the usb drive on the television. My older WD hard drives work on the television, but the new ones only work on my computer.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The size of the hard drives are the issue... All Samsung tv's I have top out at 2tb. Your best bet is to use the best router you can afford with a usb 3 port, tri band with MIMO.. basically all the bells and whistles.. Go on their website or google the name and add max hard drive to it. The one I have for example only has a voltage limitation: "The Linksys EA8300 has one USB 3.0 port that is capable of supporting an external hard disk or flash drive with up to 1100 mA current draw." Also with a router you can watch on any laptop or tablet etc

Q: Question3.3v issue still present? disassembled hdd, PC direct conect it possible ? I want to check correct feedback.
Asked by MYUNG.
- A:Answer Yakma Yes the situation about the 3.3V status is in effect with these White Labeled Red Drives. What that means is when you shell the drive from the enclosure ( which voids the Units Warranty) and attach it to a computer as an internal HDD then the white labeled HDD will not start up / spin up when the computer is powered on. The reason is that the Drive's logic board senses the 3.3 volt on pin 3 of the edge connector where the power connector attaches to. If that voltage is detected then the drive will not power up. here is a link to check about the 3.3v https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W3-uOl4ruc here is a link about shucking these drives - Doing so voids the Warranty.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEttNCJ5o9Y

Q: QuestionI am running W10 Pro x64. Can I create multiple partitions on the drive and use them just like my internal hard drives? Do I have to use special software to interface with the drive?
Asked by zorrodude.
- A:Answer Yes, you can repartition the drives. You do not need special software, as long as your system recognizes all 10TB of the drive, which most machines manufactured in the last 5 years can.

Q: QuestionCan this unit hang on a network or does it need to be connected to a PC/usb-connection device?
Asked by JR.
- A:Answer I’m using mine with the USB 3.0 input on my NETGEAR router — so it’s not restricted to PCs. It maps as a network drive on my home computers without issue!
