    Yes/No

    by K. Malito on 9/10/23

The Yes first... Tommy James and the Shondelles Greatest Hits was the first album I ever bought with my own (first communion) money. ..so definitely a sentimental favorite. And Yes, I appreciate the artist's right to interpret, live, any music written years later... and there were highlights. Nevertheless, the No... Tommy seems to want to front a guitar band now. While he does have both piano and keyboard players, you'd be hard pressed to hear them now, which is a shame as they were prominent in his original work. As such, Crystal Blue Persuation, my all time favorite, was the biggest disappointment of the show. Notwithstanding (again) the artist's right to interpret... to me it's just not a power chord song. The highlight of the concert was his acoustic version of I Think We're Alone Now, which was exceptional. Yet it only made me wish that he'd have done the entire concert that way... there's definitely something there. His voice is still very strong but I think he does his music a deservice by highlighting the guitars and not the orchestral greatness which made his origionals so great.

    Tommy James in Lynn

by Leo on 5/3/22Lynn Auditorium - Lynn

Tommy James and the Shondells put on a great show at Lynn Auditorium. His voice was great, played every song you would want to hear plus a great version of Tighter, Tighter that he wrote for Alive and Kicking. Went into the audience to greet the fans during the show which made a lot of people's night. Definitely see him if you get a chance.

It was a blast. Tommy James sounded just like he did in the 1960's. You would never know he just turned 75!

    Fun show!

by JoeBenLis on 2/1/11Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

Tommy James and fine band played all of the old hits with a lot of gusto. Opened show with "Draggin' The Line" and then Crystal Blue Persuasion. Eventually got to "I think We're Alone Now" and "Crimson and Clover". Tommy got entire crowd singing loud to "Mony, Mony." Really fun show that got most of crowd excited.
