The Naked Truth

Rate this book
From #1 New York Times Bestseller Vi Keeland, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.

It was just a typical Monday.

Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client.

After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed.

Or so I thought…

Until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch.

My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance.

And that was the good part of my day.

Because the gorgeous man crouched down and looking at me like he wanted to eat me alive, was none other than my ex, Gray Westbrook.

A man who I’d only just begun to move on from.

A man who my heart despised—yet my body obviously still had other ideas about.

A man who was as charismatic and confident as he was sexy.

Somehow, I managed to make it through my presentation ignoring his intense stare.

Although it was impossible to ignore all the dirty things he whispered into my ear right after I was done.

But there was no way I was giving him another chance, especially now that he was a client

Black & White gif in honor of this Black & White cover.

I’m so disappointed, that I don’t even have any emotions I want to invest in my review.
I should have known better! I should have learned from my previous experience. I should have waited.
In a nutshell: myself to blame.

Where to start? Apart from this author’s standard book components like OW drama (his wife/ex-wife in this case), child with OW, unlucky boyfriend (whom they dismissed regardless), extremely good-looking male protagonist, supposedly cool and strong heroine overwhelmed with hormones etc etc etc, this fine piece of a hero did something I would never ever forgive any person… he gave up his dog for adoption, since his new wife was allergic – I’m sincerely sorry, that supposedly educated man didn’t know, that there is anti-allergic medicine, which is surely highly effective in the 21st century. They could have looked into options, consult a doctor, try a treatment...

I hope the dog got a better family and people, who would never betray him again.

They tried to ‘smooth’ it by him adopting another dog. If it works for other readers, cool. It didn’t make his past betrayal any better for me. He abandoned his friend (even if he was involved in the adoption process), he gave away his pet. For me it’s like a man cheated on his wife, but the new wife is cool with his past, coz it wasn’t her on the receiving end, you know what I mean? He did it once, he’d do it again.
Yes, it’s my opinion. You may hate me now!

I didn’t shelved it as cheating, coz there was no physical cheating per se, or he said so…
H apparently annulled his marriage to his wife…
I’m not a lawyer, but my average knowledge of a family law makes me wonder how could he annulled a 2-years marriage, which he and his wife consummated – I assume she didn’t get pregnant from friendly monopoly-play…

But since they gave his ex an incurable cancer, she wasn’t any serious obstacle to the epic love of those two…

Heroine’s boyfriend, whom she knew for 5 years, but dated for a month, was immediately dismissed by the ego-driven hero, who labeled the poor man as Pencil Dick. I assume this bf wasn’t related to horses (in contrary to the ‘hero’).

I can only speak for myself, but I don’t find it funny, when they bash a person due to the apparent body-‘disadvantage’, and who the fuck has a right to decide on the appropriate size of genitals?!

And I guess I’m in the minority by liking my men human…

Anyway, this joke and how they dismissed her bf was rude, cheap and spoke volumes for both MCs – they deserved each other.

I could go on, but why shoud I?

You probably ask why such a ‘frigid’ woman without any small-dick-humor but silly morals (who the heck needs them anyway?!) reads contemporary romance.
Good question, I ask myself the same….

He kissed me for a long time after that. Slow, beautiful, romantic sensual kisses that a young girl dreamed about. Kisses you felt in your heart.
If I hadn’t been so enraptured by the moment, I might’ve worried that what I felt in my heart was a lot more than a kiss.

Vi Keeland’s latest, THE NAKED TRUTH, is an off the charts steamy second chance romance. Once I had the time to really sit down with this book and give it 100% of my focus, it really was hard to put down. The chemistry between Gray and Layla was intense. I love a romance where the Hero is out of his mind in love with the Heroine and because of it, his possessiveness knows no bounds. Gray Westbrook is one seriously charismatic alpha male who is going down as one of my favorite Heroes created by Vi.

Layla Hutton is a lawyer at one of the most prestigious law firms in NYC. She gets the surprise of her life when her boss calls her into his office to meet a potential big client who wants her to represent him. She comes face to face with Gray Westbrook, a man who once had her heart but over a year ago he broke it, and she’s never fully recovered from it. Gray makes it clear that he’s come back into her life determined to win her back.

Layla doesn’t make it easy for Gray. He betrayed her trust and he’s not the first man to let her down. Her father led a double life which ended up hurting Layla and her mother. Growing up, she never witnessed what a healthy loving relationship looked like. All she learned was how a man could be selfish and deceiving. When she caught Gray in a lie that hit a little too close to home for her, she disappeared from his life. But there were circumstances that she wasn't aware of at the time, and Gray hopes that once Layla knows the truth she will give him the second chance he’s been praying for.

Layla is no match against Gray's tenacity. He eventually gets his woman, but just when things are going great between them, life throws Gray another curveball. When history looks to be repeating itself will they stay and fight for their love or will they walk away for good this time?

Here are my overall ratings

Hero: 5
Heroine: 4.5
Plot: 4.5
Angst: 4.5
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

Vi Keeland delivered another fabulous and decadently steamy story that is sure to be a big hit with all of her fans. If you’ve never read any of her books, you need to add this author to your TBRs!

5 Love Changes Everything Stars!

Layla Hutton is an attorney in New York for Latham & Pittman. She’s in the process of trying to work her way up in the law firm, and make amends for a past mistake, so when she’s offered the opportunity to do a presentation for a new VIP client she’s excited. That is until she discovers this new client is her ex Grayson Westbrook. She hasn’t seen Gray in over a year, and the sight of him still does things to her. He’s absolutely gorgeous, and they’ve always had this crazy, intense chemistry as well as a complicated history. She doesn’t know how she can possibly work with him, but he’s a client worth a lot of money to her firm, and even worse he’s requested her, and she’s to be available to him at all times.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

-"We're not going to happen, Gray." A slow smile stretched across his handsome face. "Yes, we are. You can fight it all you want."

-"In fact, I want you to fight it. Fight it tooth and nail. It will make it that much better for both of us when you finally give in."

-The woman was deep under my skin, and I couldn't shake her.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Gray is starting an investment firm, and needs new legal representation, and someone he can trust with his business. He also never got over Layla, and wants a second chance. She’s the love of his life, and he wants to spend time with her. He’s persistent, knows what he wants, and is going after it.

Layla has been trying to move on from Gray, but being around him again and working together is just too much. She needs to think with her head, and not her heart, but she can’t help wanting him. Soon she’s fixated on him, and can’t help the way her body reacts when he’s near. The connection they shared has always been unlike anything she’s ever experienced, and before long he’s once again taking up residency in her heart. Will she risk it all for love?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

-The intensity of our connection knocked the wind right out of me.

-I wanted to touch this man more than anything I'd ever wanted.

-Never in my life had I felt such hunger, felt so deeply desired.

-I was crazy about Gray in a way that I'd never experienced with a man. Something inside of me just knew what we had was something special.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This book was fantastic, and I now have a new favorite Vi Keeland man. There was something so unique and special about the character of Gray. He was swoony book boyfriend perfection! He’s confident, sexy, direct, possessive and alpha, but then he has this vulnerable, gentle side. He has this beautiful heart you can’t help but fall for. He loves openly and completely with everything he is. This was a wonderful second chance romance I highly recommend. Just loved it! ❤️

Boring and Bland.

He is an ex-con.
She is an Attorney.

Layla met Gray while she was working for a prisoner appeals program class at men’s prison. She was their as a punishment for violating attorney-client privilege. He was in the prison as a convict for insider trading.
They had fun time in the prison library. They started having feelings but all of that comes to an end because Gray lied to her.

After he is released from the jail he pursues Layla and seeks her forgiveness.
Fine with that.
But the drama doesn’t end there.

Ignoring the ow drama, which I absolutely hate in my books, the book was bland.
The Naked Truth was dull and very boring. I didn’t feel any chemistry between Gray and Layla.
Also I felt that the book was written just for the sake of writing. At least Egomaniac was bearable. This is not even that.

overall rating 2.5 stars. (1 star for the last 40% of book)

Disappointing, hated the author threw in all the OW and secret child drama after all the heroine had to endure.
Just finished reading and I am actually sort of pissed off right now.
Was going to cool off and think before reviewing but sometimes your intial feelings and first impressions are most true.
Honestly I don't know why I kept reading after chapter 24 (58%) when the bomb is dropped.
It became a not very romantic, angsty, frustrating and irritating story from that point on.
This could have been such a good book there was definitely enough of a story in the first 50% to expand on and to keep it interesting. I was mostly liking the characters and I generally never have any complaints with this authors writing style but holy sh*t why did she have to drag it down so badly.
Will wait for favorable reviews before I consider picking up a new release from Vi Keeland in the future.

MY REVIEW MIGHT CONTAIN A FEW LITTLE SPOILERS - if you're a spoilaphobe - PLEASE DO NOT READ IT! Or just read it after you've read the book - or half the book! ;)

Layla is a lawyer in New York. She's just been sent upstairs to present their services to a new client. She's mega excited and a bit scared. She has to prove herself to her bosses - there was a tiny little incident a couple of years ago. But she's ready now.

Only, when she walks, or rather falls into the conference room ... it's her sexy idiot of an ex who requested her for his new company! Grrrr. And he's still just as irresistable as he used to be.

Back when he charmed his way into her heart - the LIAR!

description

Grayson just spent three years in a white collar prison for insider trading - a crime he didn't commit!

And while he was in there, he met the woman of his dreams. Lawyer Layla.

He never forgot her for a single second. And he hates how things ended. But now he's out and he wants her back!

Let the fun times begin!

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO LAYLA & GRAY???
WiLL THERE BE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

description

The cover is really sexy!! BUT - what's with the dangling arm??? Is that supposed to mean something? Very weird!

Well, that was funny and adorable and sexy and heartbreaking! I enjoyed reading it ....

But it was also a bit boring. Nothing really happens. Or if things happen they're only those ... I've-read-that-a-million-times-before things. Gray is a great guy. Hot, sexy, smart, funny. But we also can't really love-love him in the beginning because he's just out of jail. We hope that he was innocent - we don't yet know the story. But I couldn't immediately love him. And I hated that. I wanted to love him.

And Layla. She's not making the best impression on me either in the beginning. And the constant back and forth of I want him and I hate him and he lied to me and I can't forgive him but I still want him. Ugh.

The book starts and bam they're flirt-fighting. I don't see any sparks between them. And we don't know any kind of backstory. I first thought they were together at college or some other scenario years ago - but nope - it was just recently - in jail. And we're told that in a few back-in-time chapters - and I hate going back in time in most books! But it was done ok here.

Anyway, the book started a bit weirdly for my tastes. I'm writing this now that I'm only 15% into the story - which might be stupid, but I had to write down what I was thinking.

I'm coming back later - maybe it's gotten better. I really hope so.

Back.

It definitely got better. It's funny, sexy. And we have adorable doggie moments. But we also have that typical Vi Keeland (and Penelope Ward) 'surprise' thingy around the 50% mark. I was SO surprised. NOT!
But it was an ok part of the story, it was something you could've guessed. It was a little heartbreaking blip on the way to their happy end. I even had to cry a few times! But it was also kind of very adorable! ☺

I really liked reading the book, but it wasn't anything earth-shatteringly amazing and new and exciting and surprising. But there were some very good moments. Very sexy ones. Adorable ones. Sad ones. Funny ones. Frustrating ones.
Don't let me keep you from reading this story. It wasn't bad at all! I just expected something a tiny little bit ... more - especially in the beginning.

THE NAKED TRUTH was an adorable and funny and sexy & heartbreaking second-chancey romance! Run to your nearest amazon to get your own Grayson - this one is soooo MINE!

NARRATION: Dual POV
BOOK DETAILS: Standalone
AUDIO AVAILABLE? Yes

THE STORY:
Attorney Layla walks in to a presentation with a new perspective client, but when she makes eye contact with said new client, she already knows exactly who he is. It’s her ex Grayson Westbrook.

Layla and Gray have a history, one hidden by the secrets and lies which tore them apart. But now there is nothing standing in Gray’s way in trying to win back the heart of the woman he hurt.

This is a sweet and sexy second chance love story.

MY THOUGHTS:
This is the first book I have read solely written by VI Keeland and I was jumping on it the moment it was released das I loved her collaboration with Penelope Ward with the Rebel Duet. How could you not love the sexy cover the model Simone Bredariol is a total babe.

Gray’s dirty talk is enough to have you speeding up your hand fan. He was such a swoon worthy hero with his selfless sacrifices, confident demeanour and big heart.

I loved every single minute of this story, the witty wording, the smooth writing style, the lovable and relatable characters and how could I not mention the panty wetting chemistry and hot sex scenes.

Layla’s character was so conflicted with her head and her heart, learning to trust Gray again was difficult for her and let’s face it he may be hot as hell, but he sure came with some baggage. I like that she wasn’t perfect, she was relatable and honest and I like that in a heroine.

The plot twists kept coming, each one taking me by surprise. This was a well thought out plot and was all kept in a realistic, believable context and the HEA was simply beautiful.

This was a refreshing, sweet, sexy and addictive romance story. VI Keelands has just hit my 1 click list for all her upcoming books and made it to my favourite authors list.

MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️ 2-Stars (and that's being generous, but I didn't dnf it)

I almost DNF'd this one. I stopped half way through and it sat on my shelf for about a week until I, for some insane reason, made myself read it. I thought perhaps it was me just being in a funk and not the novel (considering I loved 'Egomaniac') but NOOOOOO it was definitely the novel and yet I finished it.

CONS:

☠️ - SOOOOOOOO drawn out! Ridiculously slow

☠️ - WAY overboard on the repetitive explanations of the emotion and situation at hand. It was like nails on a chalkboard through reading. How many times can the same emotion and circumstance be explained? Apparently eight thousand times with the assumption readers are dumbasses!

☠️ - Layla was a wet rag of a protagonist character

PROS:

🔥 / ☠️ - Good storyline, bad execution

BOTTOM LINE:
⭐️⭐️ - I really think 'Egomaniac' is an anomaly for Miss Keeland's writing. I have read five of her novels and nothing is close to as enjoyable as that was. This one was a complete miss and not worth reading in my opinion, I think her name & marketing as a Goodread's Choice Award author is what perpetuates her high ratings especially for this one. . .last word: SKIP IT, SERIOUSLY!

READ MY REVIEW ON THE BLOG

TITLE: The Naked Truth
AUTHOR: Vi Keeland
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
TROPES: second chance
RATING: 4.5 Stars
CLIFFHANGER: No

I can't get enough of Vi Keeland. THE NAKED TRUTH was another winner and I'm so thrilled I have yet to read most of her back list.

Here we meet Layla, an attorney. and bad boy and ex-con Grayson. Right from the beginning we know that they share history and it's not the good kind. Grayson hurt Layla when he lied to her by omission, something he definitely should have told her but, knowing his background story, you understand why he didn't. Gray wants Layla back and he will stop at nothing.
Once you’ve had true love, anything else feels like settling, and no one should ever settle when it comes to love.

I cannot even begin to say how much I loved Gray and his tenacity, how he single-mindedly went after her. He was head over heels, punch-drunk in love with Layla and did everything he had in his expansive repertoire to earn her trust back.
He kissed me for a long time after that. Slow, beautiful, romantic sensual kisses that a young girl dreamed about. Kisses you felt in your heart. If I hadn’t been so enraptured by the moment, I might’ve worried that what I felt in my heart was a lot more than a kiss.

Layla on the other hand fought her feelings with tooth and nails. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...and all that. She put up a good fight but she was helpless against Gray's relentless pursuit and wooing and soon her walls came down.

These characters have an insane chemistry. Gray's panty-melting dirty talk made me want to grab a cold shower every half hour. Dayum, he was one enigmatic, possessive, sexy mofo.

I'm learning that Vi Keeland is a master of writing twists like nobody's business. I knew Layla would get hurt again but I didn't see coming how it would transpire. That's one more reason I love her stories. I found so many beautiful quotes in this book, so memorable I could fill pages of them. The Naked Truth is a hot little number with everything you wish for in romance: a sexy man who needs a second chance with the love of his life and takes no prisoners, a strong, clever heroine with sass and attitude, wonderful secondary characters, lots of humor and emotions to boot.
Tomorrow or whenever you reflect back on everything—when you think of all this bad stuff I just unloaded on you — I need you to also remember one other thing.”
I paused and waited until she was really looking into my eyes before continuing.
“I’m in love with you, Layla Hutton—so fucking in love with you it hurts to think about losing you.”

Once I began reading this book, it was so hard to put down, a definite sneak reading at work story for me!

Gray and Layla met several years ago under really unusual circumstances. They felt an instant connection and over several months it only grew more. In fact, they pretty much fell in love at first sight. Until Layla received news about him that completely shocked her and walked away from him.

Two years later, Layla has moved up the ranks in the company she is an attorney in and about to make a really important pitch to what could be a very lucrative client. She never expected it to be Gray Westbrook and god damn it if he hasn’t gotten even more handsome since she last saw him. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the intensity of the attraction between them. Layla is in trouble and it starts with the letter ‘G.’

Gray had been counting down the days until he saw Layla again, he has meticulously planned his return back into her life and he makes it very clear that he means to win her back, he needs a second chance. She has no understanding of how much he has gone through and sacrificed over the past few years. Seeing Layla again was the only things that mattered to him.

Layla is feeling very conflicted over her feelings for Gray. When she walked away from him, she never expected to see him again. She still wants him but doesn’t want to want him. She habitually makes lists of pros and cons for all her big decisions in life and there are definitely more cons for letting him back into her life.

However, Layla soon discovers that there is so much more to Gray than she ever imagined and she is already falling deep for him once again. It is getting harder and harder to come up with any reasons why she shouldn’t be with him and having a constant lady boner whenever he is anywhere near her.

"God, I liked when he said he wanted to fuck me. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that our first time would be exactly that: fucking. Not making love or going all the way. There would be raw, primal fucking when the two of us finally got together."

Just when Gray has everything he has ever wanted in his grasp, life cruelly deals him another blind siding revelation, pulling him in two different directions. My heart completely broke for him, he had already been through so much and I really felt for him as he juggled what was to become his new life.

This book had the perfect balance of sweet, sexy, angst and a great plot. The build up of heat between Layla and Gray was insane and had me all kinds of worked up. Loved it!

I’m not going to spoil this book for you. Not a chance. Let me just tell you why you The Naked Truth by Vi Keeland, should be at the top of your reading list. The truth of the matter is that I read this book last week, and I still can’t get Gray and Layla out of my head and heart.  The Naked Truth is Kindle Crack, and I can't get enough of Gray Westbrook.  It’s no secret that I’m a massive fan of Vi Keeland.  Just when I thought couldn’t possibly love her writing style any more than I already do, she goes and writes THIS book. Vi always manages to make me laugh, steam up my e-reader, and produce a swoon-worthy book boyfriend and captivating heroine. That's an automatic given.  The Naked Truth was all of those things along with a sexy and heartfelt dose of the feels.  The book wasn’t just flirty and fun; it also consumed my heart.  My Naked Truth: This book is equally intoxicating and addictive.  I already re-read a few of the chapters! “Sunset. That’s my new favorite color.”

Gray and Layla have a history and we find that out by a bit of flashbacks and retelling. Layla had gotten into a bit of trouble at her law firm and as punishment, she had to teach a class at a nearby minimum security prison. The exact prison where Gray was serving his sentence for...you guessed it - a crime he didn't commit.

Lucky for them, there was light security because they were able to find time to make out every now and then. But that's not what I loved...I enjoyed the time they spent together just talking and getting to know each other.

But then, Layla finds out something that Gray hadn't shared with her and it was a deal breaker. She broke off all contact and hadn't spoken to him until he requested her as his lawyer at her firm. He has every intention of making her his and she has every intention of making that NOT happen.

Flat out...Gray made this whole book for me. I especially loved his vulnerable side. It's so refreshing to get that for a change. He's a bit (or a lot) of a dirty talker and he's not shy about it at all. I was a tad disappointed towards the end where he falters a bit but with the help of two people he loves, he was able to fix things.

There's some crazy drama and not my favorite kind. I kept hoping it was another hoax or scam but it didn't quite work out that way.

It did test Layla and Gray's relationship but the bonus that came from it made all things possible.

Gray has some other strong relationships and it was wonderful what they brought to the story especially Etta. What a hoot! And while Layla had some relationships as well (you gotta love Quinn/Hayden), I was disappointed that we didn't get more resolution from her other one even though there was progress.

Another great read from Vi Keeland. She knows how to make the story pop and reel you in. The yeahway notebooks were hands down one of my favorite things. Okay, maybe rainbows were my second. ;)

As we have all established, throughout the months of me being on Goodreads, I have slowly but gradually metamorphosed into a bitch. Or a grinch. Or a grinchy ass bitch.

Whichever you prefer.

And as per usual, I don't really read a book by it's synopsis, or summary, or whatever it is you call it. But rather I choose to read a book based on the reviews.

At first I was really, truly, extremely excited to read this book. Because hot man in the cover got me swooning in my knickers.

But alas, said hot man in all of his glory and abs cannot fight against the power of two star reviews.

So to summarise, I won't be reading this book.

Ps. The girl knows she is being extra extra in this review. Please pardon her cute ass.

4.5 'Yeahway notebooks' Stars!

You all know by now that Vi Keeland is one of my absolute favorite romance authors of all time. So yes, I have high expectations for every book she releases and I am happy to say The Naked Truth reached all of them!

I really enjoyed how Vi developed the story in this book, she got really original with Grayson's life, with all the suprises and twists and unexpected moments, and also his story with Layla. As always, the couple had off-the-charts chemistry, the writing was excellent and the story gripping, adorable, sexy and super entertaining. So yeah, if you are a fan of Vi's or you enjoy second chance romances, you definitely have to check this one out!

I’m not sure what I loved more: this story or Gray himself. I picked this up and proceeded to ignore everything else around me until I was finished, and I’m not even sorry. And now, even after finishing the book, I can’t leave him. I don’t think any hangover remedy is going to work here….

I have no idea why I went into this thinking I was going to dislike Gray. I should have known better. I love each and every one of Vi’s hero’s but this one seemed different. Maybe it was the cocky attitude from the book cover. Maybe it was the blurb. But I was prepared to love the book, be lukewarm on the hero. What a mistake! I think Gray may be my favorite yet. His sweetness and consideration was undeniable. His sexiness off the charts. But his combination of confidence and vulnerability was what got me. I’m always a sucker for an alpha male, but when you throw in loyalty and humor and the ability to get hurt, not to mention a dog, I’m a goner.

Layla was the perfect woman for him to fall in love with. She was strong and stood her ground. A weaker woman would have been overrun by Gray, but Layla was tough and driven, and I liked that she made him truly work for what he was after.

Everything about this book was something I was not expecting, so I don’t want to spoil the experience for a future reader. But this story was really something special. The circumstances of Gray and Layla’s meeting was not what I expected, the explanations given were not what I anticipated, and the ultimate conflict was not over what I assumed. It was an adorable story about living in the moment, not taking anything for granted, and fate working its magic.

“…I want you to fight it. Fight it tooth and nail. It will make it that much better for both of us when you finally give in.”

Another charming and sexy SMASH HIT from one of my all time favorite authors in the genre! The more I read from Vi Keeland, the more I fall in love with her words, her hilarious and brilliant mind, and her amazing and unforgettable characters. Gray Westbrook is EVERYTHING you could ever want in a sexy, witty, and gorgeous hero. Layla Hutton is radiant, fierce, and beautiful…the perfect combination in a heroine and the absolute PERFECT mix for our guy Gray! Together, these two lit up the pages with their hilarious banter and their unstoppable chemistry. I couldn’t get enough! I was rooting for Gray from the very start and when Layla finally gave in…it was SEXY and MAGICAL!

Not only did Layla and Gray charm the hell out of me, the supporting characters in THE NAKED TRUTH captured my heart as well! From the comedic banter of Etta and the quick wit of Layla’s BFF Quinn, I couldn’t look away from the pages. These two rounded it all out to make one sweet cast and one FANTASTIC ROMANCE!

It’s hard to put into words how much I loved The Naked Truth by Vi Keeland. This has become my favorite book written by her. I just really never wanted the book to end. I found it to be unique, different, unlike anything I have read before. I loved Gray and Layla, each one individually and as a couple. My goodness, their chemistry and connection was so electrifying.
Gray has gone through so much and the way he went for what he wanted just gave me goosebumps continuously when expressing how he felt about the people he cared about. Layla is an independent, professional woman and I really connected with her. I just loved these two together. From when they saw each other to their bickering, their jokes, their sexy parts, really loved them as a couple. Really, really felt their pain too, their anguish and where they were coming from with their insecurities at times. I just can’t really put it into cohesive words to explain how much I loved this book. A book filled with everything I love when I’m in my reading bliss including secondary characters that make you laugh, tell stories and always teach you a lesson as we encountered in here with the adorable Etta. An unforgettable book by one of my top favorite authors. The Naked Truth releases July 23.

...and then there's more

I really enjoyed listening to The Naked Truth. I'm really drawn to the corporate big guys at the moment and Vi Keeland is providing me with some of the best. Again, the narrators do an amazing job and I'm sucked even further into the story with the way they tell it.

My only problem is that it does get to a stage of eye-rolling disbelief when another curveball is thrown at the main couple. You just get to a happy place and start feeling things are going well, and duh...duh...duh... the ex comes back and she's got a BIG surprise.

Still, I enjoyed this story and I will definitely be back for more from this author and these narrators. Can't seem to get enough of these HOT, SUITED AND SEXY heroes.

The book was ok, the MCs are not my favorite but I didn't hate them either, the hero except his smirking and arrogance at the beginning was ok and cared for the heroine,. I couldn't connect to the female lead and skipped a lot of her inner dialogue. Overall, it was ok but it felt like many elements from other books wrapped up together to create a new one.

These two deserve each other...

He goes to jail so his WIFE doesn’t have to...then cheats on said WIFE with the heroine - who was his attorney and as such she should have read his file and known he was MARRIED??!!

Ok, so to be perfectly honest, I was terrified to read this book… I already DNFed a different book co-written by Vi Keeland (one of her stories she writes with Penelope Ward) and I was afraid that her solo work might share a similar fate… but I decided to keep an open mind and give it a try… I adjusted my expectations and went into the audiobook… Imagine my absolute surprise when I really loved it :) no one is more shocked than me, because I decided to give this novel 4,5 stars :) some really crazy shit went down throughout it, including some really over the top twists and turns… ones that I am usually not the biggest fan of, but somehow this time I didn’t mind them :) Gray and Layla were an explosive couple, filled with sizzling hot chemistry… I was afraid that Gray would be an arrogant jerk, but it was just the first impression that I got of him… soon after that we see so many other sides of him and my heart melted… they are both complex and flawed characters and their journey to a happy ending was a troubled one… but definitely worth it ;) I can’t really talk about the details, cause they would be too spoilerific but I highly encourage you to give this gem a try… just sit tight and be prepared for a wild ride ;)

XOXO

Three years ago, Layla Hutton fell in love with a prisoner while serving her punishment. She’s a lawyer working at a men’s prison where she met Grayson Westbrook. He’s handsome, charming and no doubt, an intelligent guy who got in the wrong side of things. They broke things off and Layla was heartbroken. She vows no one will hurt her feelings again just like her father and Grayson.

Now Grayson Westbrook finished his sentence, he’s free to do anything he wants. Start a clean slate and rebuild his reputation. Of course one of his agendas is winning back Layla’s heart. With more secrets to be revealed, they face another challenge and change the course of their lives. Are they willing to give their love a second chance?

The Naked Truth is a wonderful second chance romance. Grayson groveled his way and redeemed himself to Layla. She gave him a difficult time and it took a while to regain her trust in him. They are very much in love. One way or another, they’ll find a way back to each other as long as they are honest, forgiving, open-minded and understanding. There are people in their lives helped them bridge the gap and make their relationship fruitful. I love there are familial aspects in this book and it adds the sweetness to the story.
