Perfect for my needsVickieThis counter stool folds to a very small silhouette, which makes it easy to store in my tiny townhome. There was minimal assembly and the stool seems very sturdy when use. Seat is wooden so I may have to add a small cushion for comfort.5
B-Day ChairVanI like the color and easy set up.5
Love it, but wish for one improvementLorettaLightweight, sturdy, easy to use, and beautiful. It's perfect when in use. The only wish is that the foot rest was designed differently to allow the chairs to be stacked tighter when not in use. These chairs are built to last and will be around a long time.4
GreatKimGreat price, great style, great delivery!5

Solid and durable CamilleLove these chairs!!! Chairs are sturdy and durable. Easy to assemble only requires footrest installation. Excellent product for a reasonable cost 5
PerfectCarolynNeeded a chair to bring to indoor shows. This is easy to assemble, folds for ease in moving, looks nice, and supports 200+ lbs comfortably.5
FRANKLIN BAR STOOLS RECOMMENDMupengvery competitive products. my wife like it and if you want to save money. Then this is the choice.5
Obvious damage on 2 of 3 stoolsMaureenI ordered 3 of these for extra counter seating at holidays that can be stored away when not needed. The packaging that the items came in was sub-par, no cushioning on the inside, and the box was very damaged upon delivery. 2 of the 3 stools had obvious damage - 1 so obvious that I didn't even have to take it out of the plastic wrapping. This is my first Ikea purchase; I had higher expectations for Ikea products. Website states best way to return is to take to a store - which is completely inconvenient and not close to me. As far as design, I like it overall, and the product when not damaged seems pretty good for the pricepoint. The one thing That I would have liked is for the foot rest (which requires simple assembly) to swivel up for storage, rather than be a permanent protrusion when not in use. That takes away from the appeal of being able to fold these up & store when not in use.2
Last Minute KickbackMirandaThis worked out just fine for my daughters going away party. Teenagers and fit adults sit comfortably.3
Perfect additional chairs for TORNVIKEN Kitchen islandMaryellenMy family uses our TORNVIKEN island for all our meals. Most of the time, we’re not all sitting down at the same time. Occasionally, we all want to sit and eat together. These folding chairs allow us to have additional seats at the ready. I like that they’re solid, but not too heavy, fold up easily, and have a supportive back and foot rest. It works great for both kids and adults. Like other reviews said, the seat itself isn’t particularly comfortable for long sitting, but Ikea makes plenty of affordable cushions that fit this chair. I would definitely buy these chairs again.5
Nice productDoraNice product. Supports right posture when sitting. Only downside is missing cushion pads on it. Otherwise it’s a comfortable chair.4
Excellent qualityLauraSturdy and only assemble required was to put foot rest on which was very easy to do. Nice finish and folds up easily. Comfortable to sit on at long lengths of time5
Good but flimsyPatrickEasy to put together but more like for someone under 150 lbs4
Folding counter height stoolDennisPerfect for my counter that I do art work on. Love that it can be folded up and stored when not in use.5
SturdyKathee J.Convenient to have available. Doesn't fold as small as I wish.5
Nice conceptRichardNice and compact design. Folding it is a little more difficult than a normal chair, but other than that, it works.4
This product has a major shortcoming. The feet break easily and inexplicably, replacement are not available!MarkIt is truly hard to understand how the foot of a chair that is so prone to breakage is not replaceable. Shame on IKEA for not offering replacement feet for this stool.2
Good concept , space saving,GraceGood concept , space saving, but is very hard to close3

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

Function solution

Choose the right bar stool height

Choose the right height of your bar stool so that it is comfy to sit on, offers plenty of leg room and is proportionate with the rest of your space. Kitchen counters and counter-height tables typically range from 34-36" from the floor. To find the perfect stool for your counter, look for a seat height of 23-26". Tabletops or counters that measure between 39-42" from the floor, are typically classified as "bar height”, and require a seat height of 28-30".
