The Lid Latch™ feature on the Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker model 33156 helps secure the lid while moving, transporting, or storing the slow cooker. It should not be while the slow cooker is turned on.

The elastic strap has to be for transportation. Mine broke and hasn't made any difference in cooking.

It's used for transportation so the lid does not fall off during the ride. It's just to make it more secure.

The rubber strap is for transporting or storing your food in the fridge only.

Am I supposed to use the rubber strap when cooking foods...or is this only for transporting?

Yes. There is a rubber seal under the lid that meets the edge of the ceramic.

yes it does have a rubber seal around the edge. It also comes with another big "rubber band" to strap the lid on securly. Sometimes when you use these things, the juices of whatever will "burp" out and cause little splatters on your counter. This band straps onto the lid and around the handles and prevents that from happeneing. The lid is now REALLY on tight! I LOVE THIS CROCK POT!!!

My 5 quart slow cooker has a seal to help hold all juices inside for better cooking.

I just bought mine today from walmart. Model 33155. It does NOT have a gasket/seal on the lid. I am returning it because the lid rocks back and forth and therefore does not seal. Bummer.  Plus when i turned it on to check for functionality it smelled like it was burning up even with half a pot of water in it. The big rubber band to hold the lid on when transporting is quite ridiculous.

It's meant for easy cleaning. You pull out the insert and stick it in the dishwasher. It's also convenient for pulling it all together the night before, and keeping it in the fridge so you can stick it in the unit before you're off to work. I wouldn't place it on the dinner table, no.

The Hamilton 5 Quart Portable Slow Cooker does. The outer silver part is the heating part. The inner darker pot comes out easily.

Yes and the shape makes it easy to transport as well as serve from.

I would recommend using a trivet or hotpad when placing the insert on table to prevent damage to table from heat...

I have had two 6 quart cookers a red one which I loved but do to me not paying attention to what I was doing. The crock cracked, I believe I put frozen meat in the crock. Which the directions say not to do. So my fault. So I turned around and bought a silver one same size and brand. Both cookers cook very fast the recipes I cook like stew and 6 pound bone in turkey breast the recipes get done about an hour earlier than the recipe states. The settings are high, low, keep warm and off. The directions say do not set lid on cold surface so I set it on a dry tea towel. The cord is short to keep children safe. The lid fits well, you can also leave it go while you go to town and it does just fine. I put mine on a heat safe cutting board. My husband says the smell of the food cooking drives him and the cat crazy. In the future I would like to get a programmable one. The only negative is the crock sometimes turns white inside, you can scrub and scrub but it will not come off. Other than that it's a great cooker.

There are just two of us now and I had wanted to downsize from my 6.5 quart for awhile. This Hamilton Beach is the perfect size for a 4-pound chicken, a 2-pound roast, veggie soups and just anything and everything that you simply want to make smaller portions of. Highly recommend.

Perfect size for smaller families.

I was a little skeptical about this product at first because of the low price but after speaking with my daughter about hers, I was sold on it. This has to be one of my better purchases on Walmart.com. I didn't think any "slow" cooker could come close to an original "Crock Pot" but boy, was I ever wrong. This one is FANTASTIC. Slow, even cooking and clean-up is a snap. I use mine 2-3 times per week. Built very well and attractive too. No doubt, this cooker will last a very long time with proper care. I highly recommend this product to anyone...

Absolutely FANTASTIC !!!

I love being able to come home from a hectic day knowing that my dinner is already made its like I just fixed it myself, before going out the door I turn on my slow cooker and put in the ingredients knowing when I get home it will be ready to me thatâs the best, and i just love the removable stonewear that can be used in the refrigerator , oven or microwave I highly recommend this if you have a busy life and dont have time to prepair dinner.
