Description

Shop Black Owned Businesses in one place! The word Miiriya is a word from the African language of Bambara/Dioula, my native language. The word means “Thoughts” and “Ideas.” It can be used in many ways. In specific cases, you can use it with other words to mean “Philosophers” or “Thinkers.”

Great so far

I’ve been looking for an app that will allow me to support small businesses more easily. This app works a bit like an Etsy clone, with pictures of products sorted by category. There are many different sellers which are already enrolled, so you have variety in the kinds of products offered. The app has a shopping cart and a convenient wishlist feature. The UI is clean and easy to navigate. I haven’t experienced any bugs or hangups while using it. Looking forward to purchasing gifts and beauty products soon.

Support Black Businesses Somewhere Else

This a great idea and hopefully it can be properly executed by somebody with the proper resources one day. The UI is not user friendly at all. Customers struggle with using the app. OSN claims to use Shopify but even the most inexperienced person could put together a better website/app. Biggest issue: VENDORS ARE NOT BEING PAID. His guarantee is 2-3 days but for the past 9-10 months, he is taking weeks to months to pay vendors out. Customers have already received products and started using them, yet we haven’t even been paid. He is apparently going through a difficult time right now so it appears he is using vendors’ money (as it goes to his account) and just pays them back whenever he can, which is FRAUD. My advice, if you can’t afford to run this yourself and won’t apply for grants to cover costs, just set up a small fee for vendors. Either way, we’d be grateful for the platform. It’s a shame that such a great concept has yielded so many poor experiences. Be cautious using this app.

Nice concept but poor UI

coming from a UX/UI designer standpoint, I downloaded the app just to see what sort of products would be on there, and to get a feel for this app in case I’d ever considering buying anything. because I do love supporting small businesses, specifically black owned businesses when I can. But, unfortunately, the layout is so cluttered and confusing and it also is not favorably compatible with my iPhone 13. A lot of buttons are not clickable or functional — just because of where they are positioned on the screen. I would really love to see this app have a “makeover” and starting with a new UI. I feel like that would make the experience so much more enjoyable. It’s an amazing concept, and I commend the developer for doing all of this, but it just seems like it’s time for the app to get a visual update.
