Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy stand-alone novel.

We met in the least likely of places. It started out innocently enough. I was “ScreenGod”, and she was “Montana”, but of course those weren’t our actual names, just the virtual cloaks we hid behind. Logging in at night and talking to her was my escape - my sanctuary.

Her real name was Eden, I’d soon come to find out. From the first time we connected online, I found myself transfixed. She was an addiction. At first, we knew nothing about each other’s real identities...and she was adamant that we keep things that way. Anonymity had no effect on our unstoppable chemistry, though. If anything, it allowed us to open up even more in ways we may not have otherwise.

Eden was funny, intelligent, gorgeous - everything I’d ever wanted in a woman. But I couldn’t really have her. I had accepted things would have to stay the way they were - until the day I found a clue that led me straight to her. So I took a chance. And that was when our love story really began.

SWEET.. WITH A TWIST OF ANGST

With two mega narrators at the helm of this romance it’s guaranteed to be enjoyable.. and, when it’s also a story written by a favorite author, then I know it’s going to be utterly compelling too.. and it so was. This was a well-paced love story about a beautiful Hollywood hunk who has everything yet is missing that elusive ‘something’ in his life.. and he may just have found it online when something catches his eye that draws him in.. when a sexy distraction slowly becomes his addiction.. when he falls in love and when he finds that missing piece in his life.. was her. But she’ll come with strings.

It’s a refreshingly unusual journey to get to the HEA - the start is guaranteed to cause butterflies as he... and then they... but he... and then she... which caused him to... and he dropped everything to... which shocked him and then wow they... which was sweet... until sad times... until his ex... which caused a shadow... until yay kissy kissy... and more magic moments ensued. The virtual walls between Screen God and Montana slowly came down and the anticipation, the nerves, the dread, the excitement, the droolworthy, the sighworthy, the sweet, the sexy and the tender words of love were all cleverly plotted, were well-paced and expertly placed to conceal then reveal everything.. including the beautiful hearts of Ryder and Eden. Their chemistry, respect and mutual understanding meant there wasn’t any games, no lies or secrets, no other women or men and the potential angst/drama quickly dissolved because they sensibly talked things out together.

Worth a credit? Definitely YES.. it’s a refreshingly different feel-good dual POV romance that’ll put a smile on your face.. it’s cute and funny and it’s got sexy banter too as well as a bucket full of feels. And on point narration by two A list narrators who are at the top of their game ensured maximum enjoyment was guaranteed.

Sweetness

So freakin sweet but in a deliciously dirty way. When a filthy rich and bored Cam John meets a poor and down on her luck Cam Girl, sparks fly and nothing will get in the way of them being together. Not even the major life secret she is keeping from him.

I loved how romantically sweet this story was. Not a whole lot of drama, a little sadness and a lot of hope and determination from a very strong woman and a very hot man that had a major life realization.

Narration was strong as always.

A good old fashioned love story

Sweet and just a little bit sexy, I loved this addictive, predictable read. Even though I’ve said it’s predictable, because yes, I knew how it was going to end, it still had a few surprises thrown in along the way. Following super sexy, super wealthy Hollywood business man Ryder ‘ScreenGod’ McNamara as he finds himself addicted to an online chat room and the girl who receives payment in exchange for showing her body. Eden, aka Montana, is much more than her online persona. Holding down two jobs whilst dealing with her everyday life isn’t easy, but when ScreenGod becomes more than just another punter in the chat room hope blossoms even though she knows it’s impossible for anything ‘more’. I loved both Ryder and Eden, no lies, no games, just truths, yes hidden behind their online personas to begin with, well and truly a good old fashioned love story. Andi Arndt and Sebastian York, say no more. A match made in heaven.

Very nice story!

Loved everything about this story. Also loved there weren’t conflicts that threatened to break the up, just life and them learning how to live it. As always Sebastian York and Andi Arndt delivered!!!

Flat Story With Okay Narration

I had high expectations for this audiobook, I really did. I typically don't write reviews because I either feel like I'm already piling on or not adding anything new to current opinion. Anyway, let's get this started.

Penelope Ward can be a hit or miss kinda author for me and she usually delivers when collaborating with her writing partner Vi Keeland. Love Online is one of her solo efforts and, unfortunately, after the first few chapters, the story, and even the narration, seemed to lag and lose steam. With that said, here is my review.

Story Rating: A Solid 2/5

I weighed whether to give this audiobook between a two and three star rating. I just couldn't give the story a three (or higher) because of a few things. While the way the two main characters meet is very unique, the way their relationship begins may skeeve other people out. The heroine is a cam girl and the hero is a rich cam john. The MCs start to develop a friendship from their interactions until the chemistry starts to sizzle. Unfortunately, plot devices start to pile up which I couldn't get past. Some of the plot devices that I couldn't get past were: mysterious ghosting of heroine, hero's father dying, ex-girlfriend popping up a couple of times, and the moving of the heroine's house. I just felt some of these conflicts were created to make the story more compelling instead of letting the relationship between the MCs develop naturally.

Narration: A Reluctant 2/5

I can't praise Andi Arndt enough. Her voice really fit Eden, the heroine, but she really couldn't pull it off when it came to Ryder, the hero. Because the story and character development wasn't as strong, Andi had her work cut out for her. Andi couldn't save this book for me no matter how talented she is.

Now for Sebastian York. While I'm sure he is quite talented and a good match for other books, he wasn't the right choice for Ryder. Sorry, but Ryder is 28-years-old and York's narration makes him sound so much older which was jarring to me as a listener. I just didn't like his performance. Is it too much to ask that audiobooks realistically portray characters?

Overall: A Sad 2/5

The premise of the story was intriguing but didn't deliver on what was expected. Exciting to blah. As the book progressed, I felt like the story lost the initial impact of what made it unique. The talented narrators couldn't save this story, sad to say. I'm finding that often, very talented narrators cannot save a weak book.

One final note: if you like unoriginal plot devices, this book is for you. If you're looking for a book that's not only original but gives the main characters room (and time) to grow, look elsewhere... this book is NOT for you.

Great love story!

When two people meet under unusual circumstances in an online “sex chat” room, little do they know how much their lives will change. Both of them recognize something in the other person that fills a hole in their lives. Though they are supposed to be anonymous, slowly little things come out, until they start talking one on one in Skype. He’s rich, she’s poor and has a secret. When she suddenly disappears from the internet, he takes the one clue he has to find her. Their lives will never be the same. Narration was excellent!
