100% OF THE PROFITS GO BACK TO THE RESCUE CENTER & OUR RESCUES

ABOUT OUR RESCUE CENTER

At our flagship West Hollywood location we focus on the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of dogs to loving homes. We hope to have a greater social impact on the perception of shelter dogs and encourage adopting instead of shopping. We consider our Rescue Center the perfect “foundation” for our Foundation. With our organization’s rapid growth and the considerable attention we have garnered in the last few years, we are always looking for the next step. Our mission is to tackle the overpopulation happening in our own backyard, Los Angeles. The Vanderpump Dog Foundation has built a community of dedicated dog activists that are working to find forever homes for homeless animals across the city. We work with shelters across Los Angeles to help relieve overpopulation; many shelters are at capacity and don’t have the resources, or the manpower, to save all the unwanted pets in our city… so the unlucky ones are euthanized to make room for more.

Education is at the forefront of our Foundation’s mission. We want to teach people about overpopulation, how they can help, and how they can change the world through small, responsible acts. We want to educate on the importance of spay/neutering and urge people to adopt their next family member from The Vanderpump Dog Foundation in an effort to curb overpopulation in LA shelters. We bring adoptable shelter dogs to our Center, where they are given a second chance to find a forever home. Our shelter dogs spend most of their day being pampered and socializing with our customers. Designed by Lisa Vanderpump, our beautiful 6,000 square foot Rescue Center is open to the public and a hub for all things dogs! We’ve given the cold steel cages of shelters a makeover and added the signature “Vanderpump” twist.

In 2018, we also added our 'Vanderpump Rooftop Deck' a spacious, enclosed dog run located on our roof that allows ample and safe playtime for our rescues as well as opportunities for training for our behavioural cases. By changing the atmosphere in which the shelter dogs exist, we hope to give potential adopters a comfortable home-like setting to meet their new pet. The Vanderpump Dog Rescue Center offers grooming services to the public and a boutique with products for your pup. 100% of the profits go towards the Rescue Center. We hope to encourage pet lovers to make rescuing the obvious choice when searching to add a new member to their family.

We are thrilled to continue our work domestically in the Greater Los Angeles area by saving dogs from high-kill shelters. In 2020, we continue to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home countless dogs bringing the total number of dogs adopted since our inception to over 1600! Our goal is to increase the number of adoptions in 2020, as well as, introduce several new domestic initiatives including Vanderpump Veterans, Comfort and Cuddles Adoption and Aid Programming for Seniors, Homeless Companion Animal Outreach Program, With your generous gifts, we can continue to make a positive difference in our canine community.

ROOFTOP DECK

Our Rooftop Deck, graciously donated by some of our greatest supporters, Wendy & Jacques Bouthillier, makes our Center the ultimate Puppy Paradise. On our rooftop, we have individual living rooms for our dogs to play and nap in, soaking in the sunshine, along with toys, paddle pools, and a large grassy area for them to run around and get exercise! It’s the perfect way to acclimate our rescues to other dogs and humans, while getting them exercise. We also do rooftop trainings and other programs that support our babies!

ISOLATION ROOM

Our animals come to us from various backgrounds and unsanitary conditions. Many of them are suffering from severe medical conditions, or serious neglect. Our procedure for intake is to separate new animals from any currently at our Center, to ensure that they are not bringing any illness, fleas, or ticks into the Center. We have an entire medical grade isolation room to ensure the dogs are kept separate and in a sterile environment, monitored and treated by our vet tech and checked on by a vet before interacting with other dogs.

RESCUE CENTER UPKEEP: A BREAKDOWN

RESCUE CENTER

Our Rescue Center in Los Angeles works to rescue dogs from high kill shelters and terrible situations. We find the dogs, make sure they are in good health and have the treatment and love that they are desperately in need of, then find them loving forever homes. We rely heavily on contributions to maintain our facility. Taking care of the animals and keeping up the cost the foundation can be up to about $65,000 a month. One dog, from intake to forever home, can cost up to $5k, especially when accounting for emergency medical surgeries. On average it costs about $500 for us to get a dog ready for his new home that includes their spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchipping.

FOOD & TREATS, BEDDING & TOYS

Our rescue dogs can be severely malnourished when they come to us, so food is a huge priority! We try and give our rescue dogs the best food possible, to build up their health and stamina and help them recover from any ailments. Each rescue is surrounded by plush beds and toys. This helps their rehab, makes them feel secure, and encourages them to play with the other rescue dogs!

RESCUE GROOMING

A lot of our dogs come to us in horrific condition - many have ticks, fleas and huge matting. We’ve had dogs with up to 100 ticks on their little bodies, as well as dogs that have cuts and bruising from their matted fur ripping at their skin. We offer each of our dogs a full grooming upon intake, so that we can see what beautiful little guys are hiding beneath the neglect!

STAFFING, RENT, UPKEEP & CENTER SUPPLIES

Our rescue facility is a Puppy Haven that helps us to rescue as many dogs as possible. However, keeping the location clean and the staff necessary to run it requires constant upkeep and expenses. We go through a large amount of cleaning supplies, paper towels and utility items in order to care for our rescues!

OUR NURSERY

We are one of the only facilities in California to have a fully dedicated Nursery & Maternity ward. Read more here!

DOG TRAINING AND REHABILITATION

We like to bring in dog trainers and rehab specialists to work with our rescue dogs - especially those who have suffered injuries or abuse at the hands of previous owners. It’s a great way to build up a dog’s confidence, assimilate him to new owners and get him ready to meet his forever family!

PULLING FEES

We have an amazing group of volunteers who drive all over LA and the surrounding counties, to “pull” dogs from high kill shelters and bring them to our facility. Most kill shelters require a fee in order to give us the dog, and all of these fees must be paid in advance. It’s often the only way we can save a dog from an untimely death!

OUR INITIATIVES

We have so many wonderful domestic initiatives, from our Rescue Center, to our Nursery, Medical Initiatives and more. Read more here!

RESCUE MISSIONS

Many of our rescue missions require us to travel quite far to save these animals - whether it’s from hoarding situations, neglect or abuse - and many of these missions require emergency funds to make sure we can help at a moment’s notice. From staff, to fuel, to supplies, every donation helps us save more dogs!

VETERINARY CARE & MEDICATION

All of our rescues need general check ups with a Vet upon intake, to make sure they are healthy and to ensure they don’t bring diseases, ticks or fleas into the center. Many dogs need minor surgeries, multiple medications and, in some cases, severe surgery. We also pay to spay and neuter our rescue dogs as we are actively working to decrease over population in L.A. and beyond! Our vet bills can average $15,000/month!
