Ever since I finished building this, I can't stop looking at it. The detail work is incredible. I have a small Batmobile Hot Wheels car, and when comparing the detail between the two, it's incredible how much detail the designers captured in this set. It's also incredibly solid, and is easily picked up without the fear of portions of the model falling off. Definitely my favorite so far...

Truly a work of art!

LEGO

The second I seen this set I had to have it! Thankfully I received it as a Christmas gift! It is AMAZING! I even played the movie while I was building it. To me, and many other fans THIS is the real Batmobile!! Well done Lego! Keep them coming!

Nostalgia! Wonderful display piece!

When I saw this vehicle, I wondered how the Lego designers would create the complex curves, but they did! The model looks great finished.

The cockpit detailing is great and the opening and closing canopy is excellent. And the designers even connected the front wheels to the steering wheel so the wheels can turn.
I like how the model is displayed on a turntable with the sticker/ sign, which makes it easy to display it in another direction.

The pop-up machine guns are a nice detail, but I would have preferred the cover-panel to be attached to the guns instead of the car body. Even though the cover-panels attach with 1 stud, they're locked enough so the guns can't go up and down when the rear engine in turned.

I'd advise people to follow the directions carefully. There was one step to add a 1x2 brick with a hole next to another brick. I swapped the bricks and later found that a peg was supposed to go into the hole. But by that point, the pieces I needed to swap were now wrapped inside other pieces, so it took a bit of time to re-arrange.
Other than that, you can usually figure out the not-so-clear instructions by comparing where a piece should on the other side of the car.

Very Cool design

As a childhood fan of this Batmobile, this was a blast to build. Lots of interesting and clever ways to connect and structurally solidify this model as it was getting built. Love the size and scale of the final product. 

I did find that there were a few instances where the visual instructions weren't super clear, due to how the pieces were occluded in the renderings. It sometimes took some guesswork to make sure I was putting a piece in the right spot, only to find out a few steps later that I was wrong. I think LEGO could do a better job of providing better angles for piece installation for certain instances where their typical three-quarter view isn't prescriptive enough. But that's a small pain in an otherwise really fun experience.

A Great Build!

I will admit I was a little intimidated when I first approached this build. Turns out it was probably the most fun I've had building out of the recent sets I've built. 

The one thing I did have a issue with, was the fuselage/turbine on the front end. The Batmobile does NOT like to be moved. I found myself having to put the front end back on a couple times-no big deal. It was just real frail when you had to move the piece from the building surface to the display surface. 

One thing I would of added to this piece, and just for optional display purposes, the Batmobile's “Shields” defense mode. I think if you used the vents attachments from the backend of the Batmobile, it could be done. Obviously the builder would have to attach them one at a time-but I think it would be a nice add on to the model. “Shields open.”

Other than that, this was fun. I'm looking forward to building the batwing and tumbler.

“Where does he GET those wonderful toys??”

I had the box for a week just to admire it. Wanted for a while especially after I saw it constructed at the lego store. However, it seemed bigger when I actually built it. Need some real dedicated time but I thought it was an easy straight forward build and a lot of fun from before build to well after. Great piece to have.

Awesome

Wife got me this set as my first truly adult lego set. I took my time with it doing a bag a time over a few weeks. Worth every second and every penny. Have loved legos since I was a kid and this set got me right back into the feeling I had as a kid. Opening the packs and sorting the pieces. That feeling is worth its weight in gold!

Great set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved putting together the 1988 batmobile from lego. It was a lot of fun. My kids helped me with some of the build. It came with 26 bags, if you count the bags that were not numbered and had over 3000 pieces. Now if you were to have little kids putting this together, you might want to oversee them. I had very few pieces left over, and none of them big pieces. All total it took me about 12 hours to put together. It even has a swivel pedestal that you can put the car on. Very cool. There was only one messed up piece and that was on the back. They sent me two of the same piece instead of opposite pieces. BUT I love legos and this was a very smooth build. I will definately be getting bigger projects.

So much fun!

I don't usually write reviews but I am extremely upset over this. I purchased this for my husband for Christmas and when I opened it, it was not what purchased. For one it's not even LEGO brand it is some knock off brand Iv never even hear of. Secondly it's the 1988 Batmobile AND it doesn't have the characters with it that it is supposed to have. I have contacted Walmart and they reached out to the seller but now my husband probably won't have a present under the tree this year.
