Great storage, needs more coloursBrianI have two of these 2x4s (plus two expedit 2x4s, plus a 2x2). Great for larger books, kitchenware, boxes of other things.
Would love to get these in a forest green (like the varying shelf sizes kallax, but I'd prefer this shape but that colour) or maybe a blue.

Love the others, hate the gloss modelMichaelI have 4 other Kallax shelves, all veneered, and love them. They're tough and attractive. This set I purchased in white gloss specifically because gloss paint is generally understood to be tougher, harder and easier to clean. Anyone who knows paint knows this. It's for a toddler's playroom.
Imagine my disappointment when I dropped a AA battery from 2 inches above the middle of the surface of the shelf to have it chip deeply. Not even at an edge, which might be slightly more understandable but still extremely disappointing. Furthermore, presumably to prevent scratching every surface of the shelving unit arrives with protective tape that has no edge to easily peel off. Taking the tape off took more time than bolting the thing together. Super annoying.
At least, let's hope markers wipe off it easily, and that cleaning it it doesn't wipe the paint off, too.

But I’m wondering if anyone else ran into the issue where the screws for the top and base were extremely difficult to put together. We had to stand the unit on its head in order to assemble the top properly. I had a different version of this unit before and never had an issue during assembly. That being said, the rest was simple.

Easy to put together and looks Great GuyI bought a dolly so I could bring this and other purchases to my apartment from IKEA. It was easy to put together, IKEA supplies the tools. If you are going to attach the wall unit to the wall you will need a screw driver. Other than that it looks Great. IKEA has different sizes of this shelving unit.

Exactly What I NeededAmeilyaHello everyone! I just wanted to share that I bought this piece to use as a Tv stand. I put it on it's side and I positively love the storage and display space. It's a lovely added bonus that the Tv appears larger now that it's higher up. I built this piece entirely by myself, 21 year old female, it probably took me about an hour with snack breaks. I would highly recommend this product for a multitude of reasons.

Incredible versatility GerryI love the Kallax units. They come in various sizes and colours, and with all the available accessories, your imagination is the only limit to how they can be configured for use. One of the best values out there. The only thing to be cautious about is which way you use them for heavier objects. Make sure you use them with the long shelves horizontally so that the weight is carried by the short, vertical shelves, otherwise the weight is carried only by the two small dowels and almost no material on the shelf (since the shelf is weaker where the hole is drilled for the dowel). Also, be sure to secure them to the wall with the supplied brackets, especially for the bigger units to stabilize them sideways (they don’t have a backing for rigidity) and to prevent them from toppling over.
