Quality

We received this in exchange for a review, and my 3 year old loves it. His Favorite part is being able to lift the cargo out of the train cars with the little magnetic construction guy. We've had it for a couple weeks now, and so far it's held up just fine. It seems like it's very good quality, so I'm sure he will be able to enjoy it for quite some time. My son loves his new set.  He was so excited to open it.  I love the fact that the new tracks have different connectors and that the set came with conversion pieces to add the new tracks to the old tracks.  The magnet on this set is great too (it seems better then past Thomas sets).  I do think that the lifting pieces that move the boxes back and forth, should have a bit more weight to them so they do not tip over so easily.  My son played with this set until bedtime the first night and most of the next day.  We also liked that it came with a figure as none of our other Thomas sets have ever come with people.  The new design to the switch is great also as I think that there will be far less breaking of knobs.  He loved the fact that the set came with ramps too because we do have a few of the non-train pieces such as bertie the bus, flynn and winston that do still work on the tracks, now he has a way to drive them up onto the tracks.  He was able to move the cargo pieces back and forth with some ease, a little frustrated at times when the piece would fall over if he was not holding it. We got this product to review and rate. My son absolutely loves it! He loves anything Thomas the Train and this product did not disappoint. It was easy to put together and immediately begin to play. It connects to other Thomas sets and we had an entire floor of trains within minutes. He loves the cargo loading feature and being able to move it around! My kiddos love trains and cars and have been asking for a train set. They were so excited and couldn't wait to rip open the box. This is a great little set… It is essentially a complete set, with train cars, a sign, tracks and action; so great for starting out… My children love playing with the magnets and loading and unloading the cargo trains. Great, Sturdy Train Set!

Overall this set is great for those kiddos who love trains.
Packaging was a bit excessive with boxes in boxes but easy to get in to which is super important when you have two very excited kids.
The pieces are made of very thick good quality wood and plastic. I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the materials used. Upon opening the package it was simple to get everything set up and ready to play. 
My kids loved the magnetic crane and the dropping mechanism; however after a few minutes they were bored with the set by itself. Once I added it in (using the two connectors provided because the old track will not work with the new) they were ready to play again. 
I was very sad that I couldn't connect all the ends to make it all one big track but I am sure the connectors are available to do so if you are willing to purchase them. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great quality pieces.

The crane pieces are fun but my child was very disappointed the set only came with two little pieces to connect the Thomas wooden tracks to his other wooden track sets. I don't think we will be purchasing any more Thomas wooden tracks, they are over priced and pretty much useless.
