There is a tour guide that takes you around to the different areas. The one we had was not very good. There was a different guy at the chocolate company was very informative and could tell us all about the chocolate. There was also a different guy at the cosmetic area who was helpful and could tell us about the different products. The other areas it was the tour guide who told us about the coffee, jewelry, & cigars. He could not tell us much about the items and could not answer our questions. It was neat to see them hand roll the cigars, and we did get to sample a few different rums. The souvenir shop was nothing special and we could have bought any of this stuff right at our resort. Our tour guide also kept disappearing on us. I’m not sure he ever introduced himself and he kept flirting with our friends teenage daughter. Not a place I would recommend, you could see the same things on other tours that felt much safer and were more informative. I would not recommend doing this tour, it was mostly a waste of our time.

Went on this excursion, only expecting a strip mall to purchase souvenirs. However, was blown away by the memorable experience: from the cigar & chocolate factories, to the jewelry & gift shops as well as the rum bar. Our gracious host, Jose, led us on a tour of this wonderful facility and took the time to explain the inner workings as well as patiently field our questions. I was given the opportunity to sit at a cigar roller’s station and received a keepsake, a finished cigar, to bring home. My girlfriend and I thoroughly recommend this stop if you’re vacationing in Punta Cana and enjoy cigars, chocolate, coffee and rum. Thanks again Jose and staff at Mundo Autentico for adding to the great memories of this trip!

We were sent here at the recommendation of our concierge. I think the concept is a good idea where you can buy various specialty Dominican products; however, they are WAY overpriced especially the rum and our “guide” Juan was horrible - rude and pompous. He ruined the experience for us and it left a bad taste in our mouths. Could have been a pretty cool experience. So IF you go, prepare to spend a lot and request to have someone other than Juan for your guide.

They made an effort, for it to be an interesting shopping place with Cigar making and store, for local Rum and souvenirs.

However if you buy anything, they'll scam you with converting the USD pricing an all products, into local DOP but at a approx 5% higher rate. I asked, the cashier to charge card in USD, but they didn't.

Official: 1 USD = 56,937 DOP
At Mundo Autentico: 1USD = 60 DOP

Perhaps the reason why other had the experience, of not being able to pay cash with USD.

Waste of time. Everything overpriced.

They pick you up free- make their money on overpriced goods.

Cigars are expensive. Buy at the airport!

Ride back to hotel will be so long that your waste hours of your vacation.

This trip was amazing. Our resort offered us shopping where we were transported to and from the coffee, cigar, rum and chocolate factory. All the staff were incredibly accommodating and kind. Our tour guide was phenomenal and we also got to try a free cigar while touring the factories. I absolutely love Dominican cigars so this was an amazing treat. I bought two boxes and had to be dragged out of the humidor by my wife. An excellent experience.

Have been a few times. If you are a cigar smoker the tour is interesting but their humidor in the gift shop is a must see. Very diverse selection. Pricing is not exceptional but its fairly close to what you'll see at home.

I love this spot as it gives me something I like, (shopping chocolate etc), but also gives my husband something he likes, Cigars.

We were sad because of the rain and we took the chance to visit MundoAutêntico. It was a good choice. In this place we could see how the cigars are made, undestand the difference between them, taste one sample and relax. The same is for rum, cocoa and caffee. A transport take me and my wife in the hotel and bring us back without cost. Was a good surprise.

Worth a visit for the coffee and chocolate. Not worth it for general souvenirs or a wide selection of rum. Not a cigar fan so nice to see made but no other interest

Needs to have a nice coffee shop and bar whist waiting for bus from hotel

WARNING: Be very careful of this place, dangerous tourist trap. Everything is wayyyyy overpriced. I offered one of the drivers $10 to take us to local Supermarket Pola (Next to IKEA) only 3 min drive and he looked scared and said I can't take you there even if you offered me $20. Then me and my wife tried to leave their guarded area and the guard, yes holding a shotgun stood up in front of us and wouldn't let us leave. At this point we were scared. We waited quietly for 2:30 hours until transportation arrived to take us back to Royal Bavaro. We heard others in the van say that they were scared as well. DO NOT take the trip from your resort to this place you have been warned. The same items at Supermarket Pola 0.5 miles (10 min walking) from Mundo Autentico has everything at less than half the price.
