SAVE FERRIS IN CONCERT:
Ska punk octet Save Ferris took over airwaves in 1997 with a rowdy cover of '80s hit "Come on Eileen," and they've kept fans skanking over the years with their upbeat recordings and adrenaline-filled performances. The band brings a total party to the stage at their live shows, where fans cut a rug to the brassy horns, crunchy guitar riffs, and uptempo rhythms of favorites like "Goodbye" and "The World Is New." Frontwoman Monique Powell is the epicenter of the jubilation, dancing along to the beat and delivering her sultry vocals with a smile while fans sing along. Save Ferris continues to perform their infectious favorites with all the lively energy that earned them a diehard following in the first place, and ticket buyers can't get enough of the non-stop fun.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Save Ferris quickly caught on in mid-'90s scene of their native Orange County, CA, finding a home alongside ska punk contemporaries like No Doubt, Sublime, and Goldfinger. After a couple years of local gigging they independently released their 1996 EP Introducing Save Ferris, an auspicious debut that sold nearly 20,000 copies. The group scored a breakthrough in 1997 with hit singles "Come on Eileen" and "The World Is New," which helped their full-length debut It Means Everything achieve Gold certification. Following the tour for their sophomore album, 1999's Modified, internal friction lead to a hiatus which turned into a full-fledged breakup in 2003. Powell focused on her solo career during the '00s and made cameos on records by The Used, Lostprophets, and Hillary Duff. A refreshed Save Ferris lineup returned in 2013, attracting hometown fans to sold-out concerts at the El Rey and the Santa Monica Pier. In 2016 they co-headlined the Mexico City Ska Fest along with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and later that year they began crowdsourcing funds for their first recordings in over a decade. Save Ferris continues to bring their electric sound to venues across North America, and fans are glad to have their wild style back on the scene.
So much fun! Took me back to my teenage years. Monique still has an amazing voice.
Mo and her band know how to put on a fun show. They are always entertaining in the classic 90's ska style. They are updating the Playlist and even added a brand new show, for a good time, see Save Ferris
Was underwhelmed with the venues provided sound system, however Monique and company managed to overcome that. Her voice still sounds amazing and she is as gorgeous as ever! Showmanship by all members is on point. They played some oldies and some new stuff. Felt intimate and genuinely energetic. Can’t wait to see them again!
The Band was great, true to their sound and style. Definitely, see them again
What a show they put on. Venue was perfect for up close and personal. I loved their set list. If your a fan from back in the day, you womt be dissappointed. I sang along to almost every song. If you are a newer fan, enjoy! Ur gonna love the upbeat and talented band.
I’ve seen Save Ferris is so many venues, this was epic! I really enjoyed the vibe poolside. Very intimate performance, not a bad seat in the house. After the show Monique had meet and greets with all the fans. Dream come true!!
I have been waiting 20 years to see Save Ferris. I live in Washington and flew to Tucson just to see them. It was everything I hoped it would be!
Totally a not to miss band! She still sounds amazing, the band is super tight. Great, great show.
All the bands were awesome. I ended up really liking La Pobreska. Obviously Save Ferris is still the best. My only suggestion would be to make it so you can upgrade to VIP if you want to after you purchase the general admission tickets.
It was a great show! It started late, but a lot of folks are not early birds like me. My main concern was the venue, but it was easy to get in an out of the parking structure and discounted parking was available.
