@amayasreads Some books just look better with candlelight. There are a lot of pumpkin scents at target but this is the one I can wholeheartedly recommend for not being too cloying.

@mynovelmenagerie 🌟Book Review🌟 ⠀ Circe by Madeline Miller ⠀ Rating: 🌟🌟🌟/5 ⠀ Synopsis: Circe, daughter of Helios, God of the Sun, is largely an outcast in the immortal world. This is her untold story. ⠀ 💫💫💫💫💫 ⠀ I'm left feeling just a tad disappointed. ⠀ Circe was voted the 2018 Book Of The Year for Book Of The Month and I was so ready for the hype to be real. ⠀ While nuggets of Circe's untold story were so tragically beautiful and sorrowful, and while the ending truly ripped out my heartstrings (those are what comprise my three stars, by the way), I just felt like so much was missing. ⠀ This is an INCREDIBLY slow burn and for that reason, once the story really picked up, I just wasn't fully invested. I did, however, feel that the character development was thorough and spot on- Miller does a terrific job of making even the gods seem human and relatable. ⠀ For me, there is just an empty hole. I guess the best way for me to describe how I feel is like a bouncy ball that doesn't actually bounce when you slam it down into the floor...it just thuds and rolls away. So much promise and intention, but doesn't quite arrive where you expect it to. ⠀ I think Miller is a fantastic writer, so I definitely plan to read more from her.
