Can I control the Honeywell RTH9585WF1004/W thermostat on my MacBook Pro computer ?

Hi Troxxel, the RTH9585WF can be locked out preventing changes from the thermostat. This is done by pressing Settings and Security Settings. Changes then can be only made from the app or by unlocking the thermostat.

Can this be locked so others cannot adjust the thermostate?

This Honeywell Wifi Thermostat is really great! It is way better than our old one which got broken so I thought it's time to get a new unit. I really like that I can simply adjust the temperature on my phone and turn the device off whenever we're not at home! I also like the idea that I can able to change the color of it to match our house decor. So far so great!

I've had the Nest, Ecobee, and now this thermostat. I have to say, initially I wasn't impressed by the interface as it looks outdated. However, expecting the visual from a nest app, quickly passed when I began operating and testing the app. It just works! It's easy to setup the weekly schedule and modify on the fly. I be tested it away from home it just works! No delay no inaccuracy etc. Now, is there room for improvement? Yes, every modern device should follow a continuous improvement methodology. The thermostat offset is interesting to work with. I bought the backplate and the device looks stunning and modern. I'm glad this is an option in a very competitive market. A++++

Excellent device for home!

This thermostat was simple to install. It took maybe 30 minutes time from start to finish. I love being able to use my phone to adjust temperature since my thermostat is in a off the grid place in my home. It is programmable which is a plus and I haven't programmed mine yet but the instructions seem as easy as the installation was.

Loving my Honeywell

This thermostat was free (only had to pay for shipping) on SJ marketplace for SJ gas customers.  It was so easy to install.  Very user friendly for not too tech savvy individuals!  I love it and the fact that I can make the background PURPLE!  Bonus point:  there is an app you can use to adjust settings any time from your phone.

Fantastic thermostat!

Very easy to set up and program. The screen is easily readable. Due to the complex wiring of my high efficiency HVAC I needed a professional to connect it. I have installed Honeywell units in the past and this would have been as easy if not for the existing control unit.

GREAT DEVICE

Installation was fairly straight forward.  I some garbage thermostat from the original install so I had to buy the additional cover plate.  As for function, this is one of the easiest thermostats I have ever used.  If you like a smart thermostat that is easy to use manually, this is it.

Really easy to use and install

I love the capabilities of this new thermostat!  It was easy to install and set up and can do almost anything you want with its customized settings.  The color options are also nice if you're trying to compliment your color scheme or wall color.

Great thermostat!

Easy to install. Amazing custom color options, mine it matched perfectly to my paint color. The app is easy to use, but could be a lil more updated visually. This thermostat stays connected to the WiFi just as it should, no random dropping like other brands.
