About

MICHAEL MCDONALD IN CONCERT:

Ever since his 1982 solo debut, Michael McDonald has consistently dominated soft rock airwaves with his rich baritone voice and soulful performances. McDonald's powerhouse live shows are a veritable trip back in time, combining beloved hits like "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)" with classic material from his days with the Doobie Brothers. A distinguished performer with undeniable soul, McDonald never fails to bring the house down, and his 2014 tour dates will be no different.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in St. Louis, McDonald played in several bands in high school before heading out to Los Angeles to pursue music professionally. By the mid-'70s, he had landed himself a gig playing with jazz rock legends Steely Dan, appearing on several of their most influential albums including 1977's Aja and 1980's Gaucho. Around the same time, he was recruited by the Doobie Brothers for a national tour, going on to become a full-time member of the band as lead vocalist on classic recordings like "Takin' it to the Streets" and "What a Fool Believes." Following the Doobie's farewell tour, McDonald released his 1982 solo debut If That's What It Takes, a Top 10 hit on both the Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. With eight studio albums and an extensive list of acclaimed collaborations under his belt, McDonald has plenty of hits to choose from as he puts together the setlists for his 2014 tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"He was absolutely wonderful as was his band and singers accompanying him. His voice was impeccable and just as awesome as it is on all of his recorded music."

"The performance was exceptional. They sounded terrific and the setlist was a blend of solid hits and several covers that meshed perfectly. The audience was totally engaged and McDonald really hit it out of the park."

"The guy still has it! Nice mix of Doobie days, and his own twist on some Motown standards. The musicians and female vocalist complimenting him were fantastic in their own right."

    Great show

by Scuba Steve on 10/15/19Venetian Theatre at the Venetian Las Vegas - Las Vegas

The good: he still sounds great. The band is awesome. He played a mix of his solo songs and Doobie Brothers songs with the encore being a Motown mix. The bad: it took about a song or 2 for his voice to get warmed up. I highly recommend seeing him while you can.

    First time and NOT disappointed!!!!!

by Legs from DC on 10/15/19Venetian Theatre at the Venetian Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Since Michael McDonald won’t come to DC, DC had to come to Michael McDonald. The show was fantastic. The acoustics in the theater were phenomenal. I had front row seats and along with the Meet and Greet, it was a truly outstanding evening. Only down side—his manager needs to take full length pictures!!!

    An evening with Michael McDonald

by D. S. on 10/14/19Venetian Theatre at the Venetian Las Vegas - Las Vegas

The Venitian theatre was an intimate venue for this soulful, bluesy concert. It started on time with a wonderful mix of past and present artists songs. Musicians accompany Miichael were top rate performers.

    Short show

by Radtecky. on 10/14/19Venetian Theatre at the Venetian Las Vegas - Las Vegas

I am reluctant to admit my concert experiences go back to 1966. So I have a few under my belt. The venue , the Venetian Theater, is grand in appearance and the staff is some of the best. With out question Michael McDonald sounds as great as ever. His show is a trip back through time, superb musical arrangements with excellent musicians. My only gripe was the show suffered from this disturbing phenomenon developing the last few years , ticket prices that are sky high and length of concert time being cut more and more. When paying hundreds of dollars for a single ticket one would expect a little more than an 85 minute concert! We are not expecting a 3 hour musical event , ala Carlos Santana. But more and more concerts are not even getting to the 90 minute mark for a single entertainer (group), single nightly show. Again, ticket prices are rising beyond comprehension . At least give us something more than an abbreviated evening and short list of songs to go home with! A performer like Michael McDonald who has been recording since 1974 can certainly come up with more than 10 or 12 songs for a single concert!

Great venue, sound was great, not a bad seat in the house.... Michael’s voice is still amazing, and the soul that emanates electrifies the room! Have seen him twice before with the Doobies and he does not disappoint now!! Highly recommend seeing him if he is in a venue near you!!
