Works well on my old Apple Macbook Air with Apple's Time Machine software after reformatting.
So far so good. It is quite compact, so easy to carry in my computer bag. Bought this to replace my old backup drive, which was a WD 2 TB My Passport drive. It died suddenly after about 4 years immediately after going through airline carry-on. Good thing I do backups to two drives. (You do that, too, don't you? The other drive I left at home.) My MacBook Air only has USB 2, so I can't make use of the drive's full speed. I can only say it works well on my old 2010 Macbook Air after a simple reformatting using the Mac's built in Disk Utility program. Because my laptop's battery is old and weak, I only use this drive while the laptop is plugged in.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great Storage Device
I backed up my entire computer on this little device and feel very comfortable that all my files are in a safe place now in case of crashing sometime in the future. I highly recommend these My Passports as they are easy to use and with a case can be taken anywhere. Interesting new take on an excellent line of external hard disc drives
As an avid fan of the previous models of the WD My Passport series of external hard drives, I was initially put off by the new aesthetic of the product. With the odd ridges on half of the hard drive and the sharp edges of the plastic shell, I couldn't help but compare it to its more professional-looking, ergonomic predecessor. Looks aside, this hard drive has made some interesting design changes which has solved issues I have had with the older drives. Unlike the older model, this drive has a LED which is much softer on the eyes at night, a must when trying to get sleep. Another major improvement I've quickly noticed is the increased stiffness of the USB connectors, which may suggest higher durability. In addition, I noticed that this revised drive does not fit as easily into drive cases, due to the aforementioned sharp shell edges. The biggest pro I see for this drive (why I bought it) is the significantly lower cost compared to the previous model. This may not hold true indefinitely, but this external hard drive is a great bargain during sales.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
