Great venue, helpful venue staff, great seats. The two opening bands had amazing and talented guitarists and drummers that could get the most out of the double bass kick drums. The sound mix was satisfactory, for those bands.
Sons of Apollo, with all their amazing talent onstage, sounded like mud from where I was sitting. I was extremely disappointed in the sound quality of the mix. Lead vocals were buried in the mix and, although I could hear the harmonies, they were mixed unevenly. I also noticed at one point, the sound man was on his phone, and clearly not paying attention to what was going on onstage.
Band wise, at the end of the show, the drummer, clearly upset at someone off to the side of the stage, let his feelings be known by giving them the finger. Of course, us in the audience had no idea what was up. It just seemed to diminish what should have been a great finale. When the drummer spoke to likely explain his actions, you could hardly hear him. In my humble opinion, as a musician and former roadie who has seen many bands, at many venues over the course of my 62 years on the planet, the band needs to hire a new soundman, and for that matter, maybe a new lighting engineer as well. Cues were off, seemed like the lights were on auto pilot, nothing spectacular.
