Another explosive performance.
by N. F. on 6/12/19Teragram Ballroom - Los AngelesSo it seems that the common theme of shows as of recently is for the first opening band to start promptly at 6:30pm. Now, for those of us travelling from further than down the street, know that LA traffic is the worst at that time. Needless to say, we missed the first band, Portrayal of Guilt unfortunately. However, we made it just in time to catch Wiegedood's performance, (one that I was particularly looking forward to) and they by all means did not disappoint. All the way from Belgium, Wiegedood's mesmerizing performance was worth every mile traveled, for they gained at least 3 huge fans that night. With Wiegedood's stunning set still resonating, Soft Kill took the stage and most of the crowd couldn't be more bitterly disappointed. No metalhead wants to go to a metal show to get side swiped by a wannabe Cure band... The booking of this act was a huge mistake and if it wasn't for the anticipation of Skeletonwitch, most everyone would've bailed at first sound. Kicking off their set with "Fen of Shadows," from their latest album, "Devouring Radiant Light," the crowd bounced woke back up and by the time they played "Carnarium Eternal," just a few songs later, the pit opened up and the energy was high. Adam Cleman's eyes pierced the crowd, and the band's explosive performance was riveting. This was a raw reminder of why it's never a good idea to miss a Skeletonwitch show. Wrapping up with "Sacred Soil," every band member on stage knew they killed it. This venue set them up for success and they fulfilled it. This show was absolutely outstanding regardless of the one "whoops" band that slipped in there.
