Wash your Scruff-a-Luv

Give your Scruff-a-Luv a nice bath to wash out its matted fur. Wash them with soap in a sink or a large bowl of water and, once washed, rinse thoroughly in clean water at least once. This is the first step to make your Scruff-a-Luvs go from Scruffy to Fluffy! This process can be repeated if necessary to remove all residue.

Reveal your Scruff-a-Luv

What pet have you rescued? Is it a dog? A cat? A rabbit?

Dry your Scruff-a-Luv

After rinsing, be sure to squeeze out all the water. Make your Scruff-a-Luv warm and dry by thoroughly drying it with a large towel, followed by drying with a hair dryer – just like a pet salon! Top tip: Throughout the hair drying process, keep brushing its fur and give them a little shake to fluff up their fur.

Groom your Scruff-a-Luv

Make them look and feel gorgeous by brushing them and adding their collar and special hair clip. Top tip: Use a large hair brush to get tangle free, then use the Scruff-a-Luv brush to finish the grooming.

What in the sweet Hell is this thing??
*Update- Day 2 of brushing with a regular brush and also manipulating and squishing the cotton stuffing around has made it look more like a dog. Toddler is still in love with it. Bumped up to 3 stars. Look out parents of younger children, this toy is going to take what little energy you have and laugh on your face*Got this for my daughter(3yrs old) for Xmas, in part because it was on sale and partly because I like the idea of pet rescue/animal help that goes with this product focused at teaching tiny humans. Or well, I thought it would be a learning thing...hahaha.So we open the packaging to find a mangled ball of stuck together fur. She wasn’t interested, of course, so I said ‘hey, let’s give it a bath and make it feel better’..she loved that part. I was a little creeped out at how it unfolded into an animal but, again, I get the idea behind it because reduced pets can look a little scary but be awesome after some care. So we pressed on. We scrubbed and washed this thing for what seemed an eternity in toddler terms, but still couldn’t get all of whatever it was that made the fur stick together out completely. The toddler was losing interest so we stopped and started the drying process.20 minutes is a lie. It took way more than 20 minutes. It took a hair dryer. It took leaving it on the heating vent. It took 3 hours. Whatever, it dried. Finally figured out it was the dog. My daughter was over the moon. Yay..doggy!Then the brushing started. The toddler lost interest within the first 30 seconds. So that meant I got to do the brushing. The toy brush is less than ideal, but the amount of fuzz that was layering my leggings as I brushed it convinced me to not use a real hair brush on this thing. So I continued to use the toy brush. Omg so much brushing. My arms hurt. The fuzz flew. I discovered spots where we had not washed it properly and the fur would not be untangled. I put it under the sink again. I dried it again I brushed it some more. All the while my daughter is long gone, playing with her other toys that were considerably less labor intensive. Finally, the thing is dry and brushed. My daughter comes back and is ready to put its collar and it’s bow on. The collar was a Snap for a 3 yr old. The bow...dear lord..that bow. I could barely get the thing open and bent my nail back trying to open it.But the collar was on, bow was in, and ...toddler LOVES it! That’s why this gets 2 stars. But I can’t imagine how anything about this toy is worth $20(current list price on amazon). Im posting a picture...it’s supposed to be a dog. It literally looks like my daughter is carrying around a large pink hair ball. It’s pretty cheap and warped. This is after a monumental effort on my part to brush this thing out. So it’s fun if you lower your expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Messy Hair Don’t Care
Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2018
First off retail price is $19.99, don’t pay more. I have to say it’s pretty adorable all groomed up but it takes a lot of brushing to get it to that point. Upon opening the box you get this matted up ball that you have to wash to reveal what animal you get, kitten, puppy or bunny plus a hair bow, brush, collar and adoption certificate. My daughter took her to take bath with her to wash her to reveal she has gotten a puppy and then we opted for the spin option on the washer to dry her. Then brushed her for about an hour to get her fur feeling soft and bonus you get covered in hair just like brushing a real dog. I would say the more you brush it the more the hair will cooperate. Now she looks like an adorably cute stray who could honestly use a haircut but my daughter loves it and that is what is important. She added the blue one to her birthday list if that says anything about how fun she has had taking care of her new pet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a sweet little plush and definitely worth the price.
Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2018
It makes me so sad theirs so many bad reviews. I would like to actually break the price down as I feel this will help others determind if it is worth the price.

A walmart plush this size goes for $10.
A walmart plush doesn't come with the opportunity for your child to bond with it through caring and nurturing. I say that alone is worth another $7-10.
Another very exciting perk is not knowing what you will get. LOL dolls are $10! For a single doll and very minimal accessories. These are so cheap considering that and knowing these come with accessories such as-
    A brush
    Birth certificate
    Name collar

I say that the suprise and accessories included is worth another $7.

Overall with all things considered I personally paid $19.99 but felt like it was worth at least $30-$35.
