Khao Lak is certainly less bussier than Phuket but...
Khao Lak is certainly less bussier than Phuket but nevertheless we stayed at the Mukdara Beach Hotel where there were many many restaurants, bars, night markets, shops, massage places and tourist offices around. If you look for a nice quiet beach but with some action and fun around, Khao Lak is certainly a place to go. We went there in March and did not have any jelly fishes, whereas in Ao Nang, Island hopping tours there, Phuket there were jelly fishes as it was the season in MarchMonikaSwitzerland - 8.0Scored 8.0

A lovely relaxed little town with so many beaches with in driving distance and a couple within walking distance, and lots of bars markets and restaurants. If your into vegan food , I can't rate beyond the root vegan food highly enough, absolutely delicious 😋

We stayed at the southern end which was quieter and had more of a village feel which we liked. Taxis are easily available to the ‘main strip’ a few minutes away. There are a number of beautiful waterfalls and National Park areas where you can swim within 20 minute drive. Driving was easy and the roads are in good condition and not too busy.

I like that there are many beaches. You can go try many of them and choose the best one you like. For us, the best place was 8fish restaurant as there was a very nice, clean beach which was not crowded, sunbeds for free, and delicious food in the restaurant. It was also not very far from our hotel. It is very easy to go everywhere you need by taxi which you can order from the hotel and also you can add Taxi driver contacts to WhatsUp and call it when needed - it was working for us perfectly.

Very calm and peaceful resort, while having great beaches and restaurants. Take a local taxi to Coconut beach for a lively day on a fantastic beach. Tailors have better prices than on Phuket, so if you need a new tailor-made suit or a couple of shirts, don’t miss the opportunity.PetarBelgium

The AC is efficient, and there are also mosquito screens on the windows, so no need for the AC at night. It's about 3 km from the beach. The host is very sweet.

The pool was a great way to cool off. Cleaning every morning. 15 min walk from the beach. 7/11 down the road (400 meters) and a delicious local Thai restaurant on the way (100 meters). The owner was very kind and friendly and spoke English. He let us store our bags for a couple hours after check out. Plus, he has lots of kittens!!
