Product Description
Help your baby sleep better
SnoozeShade for Pack'n'Plays is like a sleep tent for your baby's playard, pack n play and mini crib and is ideal for when you share a room with baby.
Use it day or night, it's perfect for trips away from home, camping, vacation or during bright summer months (many Alaskan parents have found it particularly useful!).
You can adjust darkness levels to suit your baby by using the panels on each side that can be raised or lowered or opening or closing the zippable top flap which can be stored in the integrated pocket). It also gives protection from mosquitos and cats.
This is the question we get asked the most...
SnoozeShade was invented by a parent just like you!
The first SnoozeShade (for strollers) was invented by British mom Cara Sayer when she became frustrated with throwing a blanket over her daughter's stroller. She couldn't find anything that helped her little one sleep when they were out.
In 2010, she invented SnoozeShade Original for her baby's bassinet and this grew into a range of baby sun and sleep shades for the infant car seat, stroller and pack'n'plays and travel cribs.
......................................................................
It takes seconds to install
SnoozeShade for Pack'n'Plays is so easy to use. There are no poles to connect or any complicated attachments. Simply throw it over the top of the playard, pull down around the sides and attach the bottom stretchable straps securely around the playard's feet. You're done! It weighs just 2lb and easily fits in a carry on.
............................................................................
Invented by a mom with safety at the heart of design
Is it 100% blackout?
We are often asked if it's completely blackout - the answer is no. It wouldn't be possible for the fabric to be air-permeable and block all light - but it does block 94% of light. Some parents have held it up to the light and think it doesn't look dark enough - but believe me it blocks 94% of light (it's been tested multiple times) and we've had many tens of thousands of baby nap avoiders give in to the power of a SnoozeShade.
The main reason why babies, who usually need complete blackout, do sleep with a SnoozeShade is because the fabric blurs visual stimuli to such an extent that babies are bored back to sleep. It also makes it dark enough for the production of melatonin to occur which is nature's signal that it's time to snooze.
- My baby is standing? Can I still use it?
The answer is - it depends on your little one. We have parents still happily using our pack'n'play blackout cover once their child is standing. We've had other smaller children show their disapproval of not being able to march around their playard. It very much depends on the individual child. It's not unsafe to use it as your child gets bigger and many little ones like the feeling of a 'den' that they get. We always suggest you try it and see how you get on.
........................................................................
Let baby get used to it
If you plan to use SnoozeShade away from home, we suggest that (if you can) you use it practice with it at home first. Most babies are fine but you may find your little one adapts easier to it if used at home before a trip rather than if used for the first time in a strange environment.
- Award-winning and run by real moms
The business is run by Cara and a small group of moms. We all know what it feels like when you need an answer about something you are buying for your baby. We really take customer care seriously and every message is answered by a real person - we genuinely want you to be happy with your SnoozeShade.

- Reviewed in Canada on August 14, 2023Verified PurchaseAfter a week long trip sharing a room with our 9 month old and desperately trying to make the room as dark as possible, I caved and bought the snoozeshade. Although it's not "blackout" (I suppose you can't have a blackout cover that's also breathable) it can get pretty close. If the room is already somewhat dark, the snoozeshade really gets you pretty darn close to blackout inside the pack n play. It also keeps the baby from being able to really see out, so less distractions if they're not in a private space.
It also works great in the car! My baby has never slept in the car no matter what I try, and I've successfully gotten her to nap in the car while traveling, by draping the snoozeshade over her bucket seat.
If your baby sleeps in blackout conditions, don't waste your money on cheaper versions of this cover. If you only ever use it a few times, it's worth the money for the snoozeshad.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 22, 2023Verified PurchaseMy partner and I use blackout curtains at home for our little one. When we first started travelling with her, we decided to see how she does without the blackout curtains; she is a good sleeper, right? No, that did not work out to our advantage as we had hoped. So we decided to invest in a blackout cover. While we debated between the pricey-ness of other popular brands, we read many reviews which raved about the cost efficacy and quality of this product, the SnoozeShade. I will tell you we were not disappointed. The compact travelling case, the fabric's breathability, and the almost complete blackout of the curtain was a real win for us, and our little one slept like a dream, even during a wedding! To our disappointment, one of the securement tabs broke, we decided to email customer service, and we could not believe the service we received. Customer service was fast and understanding to respond and quickly rendered our problem to our 100% satisfaction. I could not recommend this product more!
- Reviewed in Canada on April 4, 2023Verified PurchaseThis cover was really great at the hotel in mexico. It totally blacked out the playpen and allowed our baby to sleep even with the room lights on. The mesh is nearly opaque but has ample air flow. Some of the velcro flaps seem like a waste because the noise of opening/closing them certainly would wake the baby.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 18, 2022Verified PurchasePurchased this for use while RV'ing. I'm super happy with it. Good quality and easy to use. It was used with the Bugaboo Stardust travel crib. It didn't quite come to the very bottom of the crib but was pretty compatible in my opinion.
I would say it's not 100% blackout but considering not having it would be 100% non blackout sleep it certainly did the trick!
The top zipper was easy to use and functioned well. There is a side flap to look in but I couldn't actually see in.
Fits back into its case which is also a plus.
I would highly recommend this for creating a dark sleep environment while traveling.
- Reviewed in Canada on September 12, 2022Verified PurchaseThis was something I wish I purchased a long time ago!!! No need to black out any room our baby loved it right away! We were even able to clip the monitor into the zipper area. Definitely worth every Penny!

Images in this review - Reviewed in Canada on October 28, 2023Verified PurchaseWhile planning a California trip with our 15 month old I started researching different options to put over her play yards (Cosco and Pack-n-Play) so she could sleep. I didn't want to go with a total blackout tent because of the potential for it to be too hot in the play yard and that they are ridiculously expensive. After researching I found an alternative for around $40 and the Snooze Shade, which was about $120. I bought both because I just wasn't sure and didn't want to be left with something that didn't work.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the Snoozeshade was a really strong chemical smell where the less expensive option did not have any smell. I noticed The seams are better sewn on the Snoozeshade, it was larger than the less expensive shade (which we remedied with a few clothespins) and I did like the elastic at the bottoms vs the ties with the less expensive shade. The material was thicker than the less expensive cover, which I thought would mean it was more blackout. Wrong. It was practically see-through in a lighted room and the cheaper option was thinner and more blackout. The smell and knowing we would not be able to have any lights on around the shade made going with the cheaper option a no-brainer, so we used that. We are returning the Snoozeshade
- Reviewed in Canada on October 23, 2022Verified PurchaseBought this for camping and hotel stays - works perfectly to cover a standard pack n play. Lots of venting & makes the pack n play very dark. Only difficulty is arranging a spot for a monitor however we made it work or used monitor outside/beside the pack n play for sound only. Baby was able to sleep the normal 11-12hrs just like at home.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 12, 2023Verified PurchaseWe've used this so many times to keep the light out when travelling, even to a friends place during the day for naptime

5.0 out of 5 stars Super product
Verified PurchaseReally happy with this product. Our little guy slept great in it. Really helped reduce light and distractions. We were a family of 4 staying in a hotel for a week (2 adults, 3yr old and 1yr old). Not sure we would all have slept as well without this. Used it on both a travel cot and a mini crib/cot and even though it was a stretch to fit on mini crib it still worked! Easy to use/fold and travel with in its pouch. Velcro seems good. Zipper pocket where you place baby in - I thought it would be small/difficult to lower a sleeping baby in but it wasn’t. The zip to close it was surprisingly quiet and didn’t wake our little one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Game changer
Verified PurchaseWe have a 1 year old that we would struggle to get to sleep when we were away. We would take block out blinds and tape them to try darken the rooms we stayed in. Hotels weren’t a thing as we couldn’t then be in the room with light while he slept. At Christmas time we were travelling for 2 weeks and I was at my breaking point and the company I did sleep training through recommended the snooze shade and I thought let’s give it a go.
This product has absolutely changed how we travel. So simply and easy to set up over the portacot. Small and compact to chuck in the suitcase and my little one loves it. We decided to do a weekend away this weekend and he had been sleeping the same as he does at home. If you are thinking about getting one, do it! Amazon also had super quick delivery and the lady on the snooze shade Instagram was so helpful in working out how I could get one over the holiday period. Definitely a must had for travelling with a baby!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny!
Verified PurchaseI usually don't bother leaving reviews for products but this was such a great purchase I had to share. I was having trouble getting my 5 month old to sleep anywhere but at home because he was so used to sleeping in a dim/dark room. I did a quick web search to see if there was some sort of a breathable cover for his pack and play when we're on the go and found this. I delayed buying it because I thought the price was a little high but finally took the leap when I realized I'm going to need something to darken his sleeping environment while on vacation. I'm so glad I made the investment in this canopy! He took one or two times to adjust to napping with this cover on while we were at my mom's house but by the 3rd time, he fell asleep relatively quickly and slept really well! I also like the way the zipper is placed because I can sneak in his video baby monitor and shut the zipper all the way to keep an eye on him. I made a little contraption with a wire hanger to hang the monitor in the corner completely out of his reach.
Pros: easy to use, easy to pack up in bag and bring on the go, provides dim and breathable environment (unlike blankets)
Cons: really only "con" is that is it a little on the loose side but it doesn't hang low enough to get near the baby
I recommend getting this if you find you're having trouble getting baby to sleep out of house! I'm looking forward to using it while camping too!
