I love the lavender shaving cream by The Art of Shaving. I wandered into the store one day and was skeptically sold on a starter kit. From the moment I tried it I was hooked. It is much better than traditional shaving cream. It turns shaving from a chore to an experience. I now shave my head several times a week and shave almost daily whereas before I put it off as often as possible. I really like the lavender scent and it's not overly masculine so my wife sometimes uses it as well.

This product is AMAZING. I have tried some other high end products and ended up disappointed. I was a little surprised at the price, however upon learning how to use the product properly I got 9 months out of 1 5oz container..... Match this with the Silvertip Brush and shaving is no longer a chore. As long as TAOS continues to offer a product line this strong, I will forever enjoy buying and using this daily!!!!

Shaving cream goes a long way

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shaving cream is thicker and more pleasantly scented than any shave cream I have ever used in the past. It makes the razor glide over my skin as smoothly as if it were moving through air.

Thick and rich, the Lavender Shaving Cream is amazing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off this the Shaving Cream was nothing like the shave creams I have used in the past. It was not overly thick while not thin to the point of creating shaving apprehension, where my fear of applying to much pressure would lead to nicks. Ive used shave creams and soap pads in the past that require quite a bit of build up to get the same results as what I can achieve with a couple minute rise and hot water with the Shaving Cream. I am accustomed to 10 minute hot water soaks for the shaving brush then vigorous swirling of the brush to work up a decent lather. Shaving in such a manner became a luxury reserved for weekends. Now I can enjoy the same level of lather every day! I highly recommend the shave cream it is a must have for any wet shave kit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I waited until the very last days of the campaign to review the shaving cream, because I wanted to use it as much as possible to get the feel of it. I am happy to report that experience have been great. The cream lathers up well with the AoS brush, but also with a boar brush I had for ages.

In comparison to shaving soaps, this cream produces rich and thick lather rather quickly. Of course, as with any other cream, you need to have a good ceramic bowl to lather it up. It helps if the bowl is warmed up (I recommend filling it up with hot/just-boiled water until you're ready to shave). You can lather it up on your face, without a bowl, if you prefer, but it would require more efforts, in my experience, to get the right proportion of cream/water.

As I mentioned in my pre-shave oil review, the cream must be put on right after the application of oil to get the best results; no washing up face in between.

All in all, a very good, quality product.

I bought this about a month ago with a pure badger brush and plastic stand to go with it. I used to use the Gillette shaving cream from the canister but after every shave it left a slippery residue on my face where i would need to wash it off and it would be sloppy putting the Gillette shaving cream on my face with my hands too. With this shaving cream that isnt the case..i run the badger brush under warm water..take a fingertip of the lavender shaving cream and put it in the middle of the brush and lather up my face. It evenly distributes the shaving cream on my face and leaves no residue getting a really awesome/quick/clean shave. The guy at the store also said that this will last about 7 months being you only use a fingertip for each shave and its a 5oz case. Also i use a gillette fusion proglide manual blade to go with all of this.

The smell is amazing, calming relaxing and still masculine. This is a amazing product and makes for a fantastic gift.

Smooth and Moisturized with no irritation

Like most TAOS products, it's not bad -- just overpriced relative to quality.  It's pretty similar to the highly regarded Taylors of Old Bond Street lavender -- which is HALF the price.  And simply not even in the same league as the similarly priced Castle Forbes version.

OK, Just Overpriced

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Out of all the products in The Art of Shaving Full Size Kit, the shaving cream was my only disappointment. Sad too, because I think that should be star of the entire package. The Lavender Aroma I still found to be quite nice and not overpowering at all. However, I found it very hard to find the water to shaving cream ratio to get a good smooth lather. Too little water, and it will dry on your face quickly making it a difficult rough shave. Too much water... and it becomes a soapy like mess making it pretty much pointless to use shaving cream at all. I keep trying to figure it out the right balance and will update my overall rating and review.

Not a fan, dries quickly, hard to lather.
