A suitable length of stay would depend largely on the time of year.
There are many options for mountain walking in summer, less when snow covers the paths and countryside. Day Trips can be made to explore other scenic towns and villages by the local bus, along the island. Very scenic opportunities for photography with the changes in weather. Interesting short walks around Svolvaer and the harbour, boats, colourful buildings and rocky inlets scenery.

Svolvaer has the iconic architecture and "feel" of the Lofoten Islands but is large enough to have some choice in restaurants and easy access to most services. There are many museums and attractions nearby and just driving through the countryside yields spectacular views. Parking in town is limited and expensive, but the central parking lot is free after 7 PM.

Fantastic holiday in Svolvaer.
Fantastic holiday in Svolvaer. A photographers paradise from Fjord excursions to a road trip further a field.
My key highlights were the RIB Sea Eagles tour with Lofoten Explorers and the 5hr road trip with Lofoten Lights tour operators.
I will definitely be returning to see the Northern lights.

My son and I stayed here due to a change in our itinerary. We booked the location because it was close to the airport and it was reasonably priced. On the good side the location was on the water and walking distance to the center of town. The room offered a kitchenette with a table and two beds. One could access the deck overlooking the water. The people working the desk were very helpful, even booking a taxi for us to the airport. The bathroom is shared and the desk is closed at night. You have to walk to town for meals or stop by the nearby Circle K gas station for coffee and/or food if you don’t plan to cook. Rooms were upstairs, and there is no elevator.

Most convenient location for visiting the Lofoten islands.
Most convenient location for visiting the Lofoten islands. The pier for the exceedingly beautiful Trollfjord trip is walking distance from Svinoya.
The enterprising can hike the Djevelporten peak , which has steps for about 50% distance.

Svolvaer is a great pictures town with a bery nice water front.
The restaurants and coffee shops are great and there a lot of activities all around.
We used it as a base camp as we drove all around the amazing Lofoten islands for six days.
The landlord was very kind to recommend an A&E hospital nearby so that my daughter can see the dr for her twisted knee. She got referred to another hospital for x ray scan which confirmed there was no fracture.
In terms of the apartment, there is nothing to complaint as it is in excellent conditions with views to the gar out as well as the church behind.
The location of the apartment is excellent- just 5 minutes walk from the pier and rental car pick up point which enables easy access from all over Svolvær
Modern fully equipped high end apartment right on the waterfront. It had a bedroom, full well stocked kitchen, and the most comfortable pull out couch I’ve ever slept on. It even had a washer and dryer and the patio was lovely. It was right next to the pier where the tour boats and passenger ferry terminal. It even had warm underground parking and elevators. Great wifi and good lighting. We loved it and it felt like home so we stayed there twice, at the beginning and end of our Lofoten adventure
Breakfast was very good. The staff are friendly and caring. They were apologizing that the breakfast is not as usual because they had some reconstruction going on. But actually it was the best breakfast I had during this trip (I stayed in 6 different hotels on this trip). I did not even notice any reconstruction. Amazing view both in the dining area, as well as my room - just in front of the harbour. Convenient location if you take ferries to or from Bodo or other locations in Lofoten.
Exc upscale hotel in heart of downtown Svolvaer, Lofoten Islands Norwary...
Front desk staff very friendly and helpful, excellent breakfast spread, with coffee available v early on.
Bathroom actually has a bit of counter space, which is rare in nearly all of Europe/Scandinavia.
Shower stall itself is tight for tall/large shouldered man: typical.
Rate was v good as we were there in early October; I suspect rate is much higher in season, esp August.
I had the ground floor apartment, which was very clean and cosy and had everything one needs for a comfortable stay, including a washing machine. Conveniently located close to the city centre. The owner replied even in a super early morning hour when I had an issue with the key box checking out (all on me, there was nothing wrong with the box). A great experience, and considering the generally high prices in Svolvær, pretty good value, too!
Fantastic location in Lofoten. This was our home base as we explored the islands. The cabin was cozy - we booked both rooms in the Rorbu. As some people mentioned, the decor was a bit dated, but honestly I felt that gave it some charm. Otherwise the beds were comfy and the cabin was nice and warm. Also the breakfast spread was fantastic - felt very much like we were spending time at home.
Got the keys without contact and with a key box. This is super convenient because we didn't always know when we would arrive at a certain location while exploring and driving around with our car. Also could do our laundry here and the laundry machine was efficient and quiet. Nice stay in Svolvær!
Hotel looks very nice for a chain-hotel. On an island in the center, with Lofoten architecture. Room had great views and a great terrace over harbor and ocean. Breakfast was nice. Staff was super friendly. Boat tours and restaurants very close to hotel. People are so friendly on Lofoten!
The cabin was great! It was a great size and very comfortable. It was great to have a room to spread out more than a traditional hotel room. We will stay here when we come back in the summer. We had a great dinner at the restaurant at the property.
The room is functional but the facilities are a bit old. It is a self-service hotel, everything is done by e-mail with the code they provide you. The hotel is really close to Svolvaer's city center just in front of the Lofoten War Memorial Museum.
The hotel was clean and tidy. Breakfast was good and there were also vegan ang gluten free options. The location is good, the bus stop and grocery store is near. There was also a kitchen for guests to use and that was handy.
