Shore Hotel Laxey, hotel in Laxey

Located in Laxey, a 1-minute walk from Laxey Beach, Shore Hotel Laxey has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

The breakfast was very good. the technology in the hotel is so over the top. We do not need a toilet seat that lifts up when you enter the bathroom. There were reading lights on both sides of the bed but a switch on only one side which made it difficult for one person to read later than the other but not be able to switch the light off without getting out of bed and walking to the other side and then walking back in the dark.. We could not understand the TV as it was far too complicated

The Workshop, Bridge House, hotel in Laxey

The Workshop, Bridge House offers accommodations in Laxey, 6.2 miles from TT Grandstand and 20 miles from Castle Rushen.

Property has all the comfort of a modern apartment, it is very spacious & on my arrival spotlessly clean. The bathroom is very well planned & the shower was easy to operate & the temperature was perfect. Bedroom very spacious & the added touch of a couple of hot water bottles was very charming, heating was more than sufficient. Location to both the local CoOp was less than a 5 min walk, bus stops only a few minutes more. Laxey wheels are only 10 minutes walk away & the harbour less than a 15 minute stroll. It is worth checking out the Manx wool mill only a short stroll from the apartment, managed to pick up some great scarves, gloves & the best pair of tweed slippers that I have ever had in my life. There is a lovely walk to visit King Orrys grave which will stretch the legs after a good breakfast. Laxey had alot to offer the seasoned walker & there are some lovely undisturbed opportunities along the old mine route, near the road bridge is a hotel & a great place to start a walk towards Ballasalla.

Best Western Palace Hotel & Casino, hotel in Laxey

With the Isle of Man’s only licensed casino, Best Western Palace Hotel is centrally located on the beautiful Victorian Promenade overlooking Douglas Bay and just yards from the beach.

The property is in a good location. The staff were amazing. I think they go above and beyond because the building is horrible.

The room was big and warm. The personnel are really nice and helpful. The Internet works really fast and I even had Netflix at the hotel TV. It's up to you if you prefer to have breakfast at the hotel or want to go for a walk and eat something nearby.

Great location with easy links to explore the whole island from a quiet base. Loads of walking trails and history on your doorstep. Easy bus and MER links. About 4 miles from Snaefell. Friendly and helpful locals willing to help if they can. Must see the Great Laxey Wheel. We thought it was fantastic. Stayed on the IOM for 4 days and used the clean, frequent and punctual buses to get around.

During our stay we visited all areas of the island, only spending an afternoon in Laxey itself. The wheel was worth visiting, particularly since English National Trust members get free entry. Some parts of Laxey looked a bit run-down, with properties boarded up, and others requiring significant maintenance. We bought a Go Explore ticket for the day, giving us access to all public transport (electric trams including the Snaefell railway, buses, steam trains and even the horse drawn tram in Douglas). This is well worth buying for a car-free day. We walked up Snaefell, and were lucky to have a clear day to see the "seven kingdoms".

Great little town with a lovely rocky beach with two great choices for ice cream, sandwiches, coffee, etc. It was the perfect location from which to base ourselves so that we could visit many other villages on the island. Douglas, Port St.Mary, Port Erin and Peel all had their charm, incredible history, ancient castles plus great hiking trails up hills and along coastal paths. Plus, we took all three of the trains, the Snaefell Mountain train, the Isle of Man Steam railway from Port Erin to Douglas, and the Manx Electric train from Laxey to Douglas and back. We’ll visit again…one day.

Laxey a small village but peaceful with beach and the wheel however the wheel is undergoing some restoration work at present. Laxey has a few hills which may prove difficult for people with mobility problems but a nice little harbour area and a nice Italian restaurant and take away restaurant too.

Laxey is about the Wheel, but so much more.

Laxey is about the Wheel, but so much more. Old Laxey has a lovely beach with good café. The station allows travel on the electric railway and up Snaefell on the mountain railway. Summit restaurant was good - but the views are excellent. Take your wind-proof gear because it does blow, but it's well-worth the visit.
