The vacuum looks good. You can see its not brand new but it looks close to new. It's easy to use and moves smoothly round on the giant ball. Also suction is fantastic and it's easy to empty. I havent tried to clean the filter or anything. The only drawback is the weight; especially relative to the handle. I feel the handle is a bit flimsy considering how heavy the vacuum is. Also I dont think I'll be carrying this up and down the stairs.

Vacuum's released a strong odor when using since the first day. The wand wouldn't turn on after following the instructions in the booklet. Even if it did, it seemed incredibly inconvenient to use, as the vacuum does not stand upright and has to be laid down on the floor. Then the vacuum's handle cap has to be removed, and the wand needs to be pull out of its slot and have a button clicked and have the thing extended and then the attachment needs to be applied, and then reverse all of these steps just so you can start cleaning the floor again.

Item showed up pretty quick from NY to TX. Box had a hole from UPS but didn’t harm the vacuum or contents. This was an exact replacement for ours that was damaged from abuse. Was amazing to see how well it cleans the carpet. Wife and kids both did notice a smell. Son described it like burning. I thought it more to be heating of plastic or smell from the cord. I’d expect it to go away. But did note that as others mentioned in reviews. Pleased with saving at least half in price for a refurb. Everything seemed new except the wand.

The suction is great. The handling on carpet and hard floors is pretty good. It is too heavy for smaller people. The intent to have all the extras clipped to the machine is admirable, but if you want to switch the machine from regular push and pull action to using the retractable hose it becomes quite an endeavor. First you have to click the machine in the 90 degree angle, upricht position. Then you have to pull out the retractable hose, extend the tube and nozzle, click on the extension you need, and then you have to battle with the retractable hose which really prefers to pull back into the machine. It's too finicky in many respects and I feel the machine is overdesigned rather than robust and simple. I am not talking about the engineering aspect of it, but really about the ease of use. I think a lower model on wheels is easier to handle.Read full review

we like the dyson products. We have had several Dyson vacs so far. This is our first Dyson ball vac. It is a bit lighter. When we snapped it together, the first time my wife used it she did not like the locking/unlocking method for making it upright. She also did not like that the red locking piece kept popping out and the motorized head would come/pop off if she hit the corner of the furniture too hard. I reinserted the locking piece and so far it is holding up. The swivel motorized head does seem more fragile than our last dyson. The attachment with brush/crevice is a 2 in one and taking some getting used to. We would like an attachment to extend reach higher to get the webs in our high ceilings. The suction is more powerful than our last vac and it is a bit lighter.
