People in Rhode Island swear by this place, so I decided to make the trip and try them out. I take everything rhode islanders say about food with a grain of salt since most don't/ won't journey out of RI to find out what good...or great food really is. I'd heard so much about their cannolis, so we bought four. What a complete disappointment. The shells were soggy and the filling was chalky. I'd rather drive 2 hours into Boston for a great pastry then drive to this place for a subpar product.More

We stopped in on a whim. Great looking case items. They specialize in classic RI party pizza and calzones, different salads, and various desserts. We had a couple slices of pizza (3.50 a piece), a ham and cheese roll (3.50) and cannolis. All were very...good. This was up there with the best RI party pizza I’ve had. Really good local bakery.More

Founded in 1905 by Domenico Palmieri, and since moved from Providence to Johnston, it is under the guidance of great-grandson Stephen and his two sons that D. Palmieri’s Bakery continues to offer sweets and savories to a loyal fanbase mid-pandemic. Nothing short of a community...staple, the famous Baked Goods expanded to a full Deli and Market with prepared Foods after relocating, it was early Saturday morning that D. Palmieri’s was found fully stocked, two masked women behind the counter not exactly “pleasant” but efficient and largely what one expects from an Italian Bakery in the Northeast. Known for “Party Pizza,” available whole or by a bargain-priced “Strip,” it was outdoors at a local park that teeth pierced crispy Dough with lots of Garlic and Tomato Sauce, a Raspberry Twist to follow crumbling and expectedly dry, though once on the tongue plenty sweet with lingering notes of Butter. Not a space built for #instagram, the recipes all old-timey as they should be, fans of Zeppole will find D. Palmieri’s soft with quality Cream while the Pistachio Muffin and Lemon Cream Square should not be overlooked as each are well-crafted and full of natural flavor. Less impressed by Sfogliatelle, the Custard overcooked and freshness questionable as its bottom was soggy, better bites were found in a “Boston Cream Bomb” that sees fragrant Pudding atop delicate Sponge Cake coated in Dark Chocolate Ganache.More

Easy to find, plenty of parking, nice building. This is nestled right in Johnston. Went inside and its a bakery and deli. We went for the desserts which were good and filling. Staff was nice. Worth a trip if you are in Johnson.

Tremendous service(staff and management), pizza strips, spinach pies, calzones, try the snail salad-best around. Pastries, meat platters. Everything is fresh and so delicious. A must take when we travel out of state-relatives won't let us in if we don't bring it.

I get the party pizza as it is loved by my daughter in law in Ma. just crust and sauce. but the crust is the thing. crunchy but a soft middle. a nice sweet but tangy sauce. No one beats this item. They also have...other items like calzones. Very nice people who work here always a smile. they have it all boxed up. it is always fresh as they sell so much of it. you will love it if you are watching a ball game.this is not an eat in restaurant all take out bakery.More

Excellent food and friendly service. I enjoyed the pizza I got here. I’d have liked them to warm up my slices for me. I was eating them right then and there, but they bagged it all up to go and it was cold. Next time...I’ll know to ask. Other than that, everything was great!More

So it was rainy and we drove between both. Palmieri is in left box and Petrillo in right box. Results: Palmieri’s sauce is a deeper, richer more seasoned and oily sauce that is very “tangy” (some may say a tad bitter, but in a good...way). They use less sauce than DE Petrillo’s but they have to as their sauce is so rich. Their crust was perfect, crispy yet flaky with a nice flavor. DE Petrillo’s sauce is a smoother, lighter and sweeter sauce with less oil and seasonings. Very tasty just different. They use a lot of sauce. Their crust though had no “crisp” or crunch to it and is basically bread-like. I prefer D Palmieri, my wife DE Petrillos. So the battle continues!More
