Need a rubber mallet & extra dowels for assemblyRachaelThis is just what I need for my office in my new home, but putting it together was a pain.
I had to use a rubber mallet to get the dowels in and attach the pieces as the holes for them were way too tight, which then caused me to accidentally break a couple of dowels.
I'm not sure if I'll buy this again, but I'm glad I only picked up one (I was going i get 2-3).4
Absolutely not MargaretThe wooden dowels would not stop breaking when I tried to put the shelf together. I assembled all of the furniture in my home (some Ikea, some not) and this is easily the worst experience I’ve ever had with assembly. Horrible quality. 1

There are many options available to customize, including shelving inserts, drawer inserts, bins and baskets. I bought the first one, customized it, and loved it so much that I bought a second one.5

I purchased this KALLAX unit along with a smaller one and a stand to use as a room divider and TV stand. I also bought several decorative items at IKEA to fill in the cubes. I love the way it turned out! The pieces are sturdy, and it took a reasonable amount of time to assemble with only one person. I also love the color.5
