Got this cast iron skillet mainly to finish cooking steaks on. Got a sous vide for Christmas, but my electric griddle wouldn’t get hot enough to get a good sear on it (we’re renting a house and it doesn’t have a working stove/oven, so I cook with appliances) Got the skillet today, for use with a Nuwave induction plate. Washed the skillet and dried as advised on the label. Then cooked the steaks to Med Rare with the sous vide, then tossed one at a time in the pre-heated skillet with olive oil for ~1min/side. PERFECT crust on the steaks. Looking forward to seeing what else I can cook with this pan! Will update review if I encounter any problems.

Perfect so far and works with induction

I already own 12inch and 10inch cast iron skillets and they are amazing as I cook majority of things in it compared to these non-stick pans. 

Ive made pizza which is great because I can heat the bottom on stove top and place in oven to bake/broil. 8 inch is good for personal pan and small enough for home fries for two.

Cooking fried rice, mixed veggies is a breeze and flavor comes out great. 

You do have to care for the skillet unlike other items as you dont want it to rust so after washing, drying and coating with oil and heating it up is mandatory.

Love all my cast iron skillet !

Never owned a cast iron skillet before. last one I used was my mom's 8" back in the 70's. Needed one to sear steaks off a smoker and/or baking dishes in the smoker while a roast is smoking. Did some research and there are a few USA made cast Iron cookware manufacturers out there but very costly. For $20 for a 12" by Lodge I figured it was worth the try since they had good reviews.  I've had it now 1 week and browned some ground sausage for sausage stuffing, then baked the stuffing in the skillet in the smoker while the turkey was smoking. Fried some eggs twice, seared prime rib, and made chicken piccato in the skillet. The skillet worked beautifully. The first dish, ground sausage  had very minor sticking but after that nothing stuck. After use I wash it with warm water and no soap if possible. Thoroughly dry and apply a thin film of vegetable oil then wipe off. I can see the seasoning building up. Next up will be Creamy Tuscan Shrimp. Lots of cast iron recipes on Lodge, Stargazer and Finex websites.

Great Everyday Skillet for a Great Price...

This is a really affordable cast iron skillet. Word of caution, the heat distribution doesn't seem to be even -- it gets really hot in the center of the pan. However, I'm cooking on an electric stove and would probably have better results with gas. I tried to fry an egg in it this weekend and it stuck pretty bad, but I think the pan just needs to be seasoned more. Overall, I think it will meet my needs, I love the price, and I'm looking forward to "breaking it in"! :)

Good value

Compared to more expensive cast iron, LODGE is a bit rougher where pan texture is concerned. It advertises that it is pre-seasoned, but LODGE said it is NOT. Therefore, many hours of prepping were involved before I fried the first egg - that stuck. I knew I would need to season more aggressively due to the roughness of the cast iron. Do not expect a smooth, mirrored finish as comes on high end cast iron. This is more rustic. After heating it to smoking on my stove, I applied olive oil sparingly then rubbed it in using a paper towel. I did this at least 20 times and the paper towel would shred due to the coarseness of the pan.

After scraping it down with a metal spatula (many times) and re-seasoning many MORE times, I finally had the skillet of my dreams. Eggs might not slide around like they are on ice, but they do not stick now. Clean-up (unless you make gravy) requires a wipe-down with a dry cloth (since I stopped using paper towels) lol

LODGE CAST IRON

Cast iron cracked after second use. I am certain it is a bad casting and not the material. I have a 12 and 6 inch pans and have had no issue. Lodge is a well known brand so I will be exchanging in store. I am sure this is not common, but I know this is a possibility no matter what the brand is.

They changed to an Imusa mark. It was so bad that i need to discard it. Have moldy everywhere and with dishwasher, hard clean...and dry...STILL HAS MOLDY

I was not notified my item was delivered 
It sat it the outside doorway where that is before a security door. My directions are clear. To buzz security. Also this has no wrapping on it
Can you imagine why someone would steal an iron skillet that's left where people are walking in and out all day. 
Not FedEx nope some fly by night delivery that has done this 3 times now
You see those 2 black boxes? Those are the names of who to buzz. I was home and no buzzer sounded.

I really like lodge cookware, and this is more my frustration with Walmart this order (of which almost everything has to be returned). This item arrived hanging out of its box, with a gouge created in the handle (if you know cast iron, this would be livable) and unfortunately a crack going up the rim. Due to my area, this is now an hour trip just to return it. Ordering from Walmart actually cost me a stupid amount of time and expense, and the poor packaging wasted a product that normally can last a lifetime. Will have to figure something out for Thanksgiving now.
