I am a single dad and got this for my 12 year old daughter. Figured that this would explain body changes etc far better than I ever could. Before I gave it to her, I had a look at it and thought children are so lucky to be alive now, as there were no books like this available when I was her age. Everything was all so stiff and starchy, guilt inducing and no recognition that young girls in particular undergo really horrible changes and challenges.

It is beautifully written with not a single word wasted. I would imagine that most children would love the author to be their mum, as the material is so modern, so caring and so understanding.

I have since asked her if she found it helpful and she said that she has. Given that most young ones her age veer towards being over-critical, it must be brilliant!!

I absolutely love the these books in the American girl series. I was given one and then have steadily built up a large set for my twin daughters. If I try to broach the subject of puberty, bodies and relationships, I'm given the brush off (eugh, please don't talk about it.....) but find that books left around are read with interest. This explains things in a straightforward but 'chatty' manner, like a friend is talking to them. If you have daughters, have a look at these books as they are so useful.

I bought this book as a follow on from Book 1 which was great for my 10 year old. It helps her to understand her body and also gives tips & advice. I would say that this book is for more advanced girls maybe 11+, however my daughter is mature enough to take this information on board. It is Americanised so there are obvious words which are slightly different but shouldn’t put a young lady off. Happy reading!

Fantastic book, covering the physical and emotional changes girls can expect during puberty in a positive and sensible way. My daughter (10) loves it. I looking for a book that was age-appropriate and did not go on to discuss sex and relationships, so this fit the bill perfectly. Don't let the 'American Girl' title put you off, it's perfect for Brits too!

Even though i'm a nurse myself i absolutely dreaded having to have that "chat" with my daughter. Having read the reviews for this book I went ahead and bought it. So glad I did!!!!! It was fanatstic and she was over the moon that I'd bought it for her. I thought she actually knew alot more than she was letting on but she said she didnt so this book was fantastic, straightforward and easy to understand. For anyone who is unsure, go for it, you wont regret it!!!!

I purchased this book for my 10 year old daughters as a guide to all the changes they should expect. Understanding the changes to come is much easier than being caught off guard or embarrassed by something that may happen. This book is well written and at an age appropriate level. It aids as a discussion tool and even has topics I may not have thought to bring up. 5/5 for me!

I bought this book for my 10-year-old niece and although she didn't want to talk about this topic, she did read it and I feel comfortable knowing she's now armed with solid information about what's to come and will have this book as a resource. I'm hoping it will help open the door of communication when she's ready.
