This was a wonderful purchase.  I had previously tried six other feeders and had to return them all.  The Cat Mate C500 has worked great, even though it was attacked and dragged by raccoons and I was sure I was going to have to toss it, but no, it still worked perfectly.  All scratched up but still raring to go.  I bought 3 of them.

The Cat Mate C500 is the best!

We are loving this so far.  We plan to use it for soft food when we cant get home in time to feed kitty.  We dont currently need all five food dishes but wanted to have for future options. We have tested it and found that icepacks work good for same day feedings, programming is simple, unit has been reliable, and food trays clean up easily. Cat is fine with it and already knows what that sound means. The 1 open dish was great for introducing it to the cat. Size of the unit is reasonable. The display is a little small, but I would not want it bigger if it would mean a bigger unit.  We havent had it long enough to need to replace batteries but love that it has a battery life indicator.  Also is nice that you can just turn it off.  This unit uses batteries only, but so far this seems just fine and there are no cords to chew.

Loving it

Three Cat Mate C500s arrived sooner than expected and was easy to program for twice daily feeding for three cats.  This enables us to schedule overnight trips without boarding or having the $$$ cat sitter coming over for three always hungry cats.

It is very easy to program, easy to insert batteries, nice ice packs. It is a good quality product, with easy to read and understand instructions. It is very easy to clean the food dish and lid.

I have one already before purchasing this one. Love the wide opening to reduce whiskers stress. Also love the freezer pack so that I can put wet food in if I am not going to be home for next meal.

Bought this feeder after reading an article on behavioral issues with cats. I have a cat, who we adopted that likes to wake us up in the early morning hours, usually around 4 a.m. I have to get up early for work, but not that early! We tried closing the bedroom doors, and my cat would just paw on them incessantly until someone would let her in. After reading an article it was suggested that maybe her behavioral issues were due to being hungry at a particular time in the overnight. This is where this timed feeder comes into play. We only use one of the holders for food and set the timer for 4:30 in the morning. It was like it was a miracle! She rarely wakes us up in the middle of the night anymore and seems to be satisfied by the food in the holder. Only Improvement I would suggest to the manufacturer, would be maybe making the opening a bit larger or perhaps rounded, as my cat has difficulty getting the food out of the corners. But I wouldn't change my quality of sleep for a difference in design. It's easy to use, and I would absolutely buy this again.

Nice feeder, easy to operate.  However, I was hoping the ice packs would allow me to put in a day's 5 wet food portions for my elderly cat with poor teeth. However, the ice packs are really effective only for less than 10 hours.

I need a solution to feed my cat everyday when she wants to eat wet food at 4:30 AM. I also need a solution to feed her if I'm away for the day or overnight. I hoped this would work but the one I received is defective and is going back. In three weeks it failed to operate properly. I put food in the first closed section and when I put the lid on it automatically rotated half way. When it rotated again, it finished the other half rotation. What this meant is that the food I put in was not available. This happened several times. Fortunately I was home. One night it just kept rotating and I had no idea why. I could not count on leaving this for my cat if I was away.. That is why I tested it first to be sure I could count on it to feed my cat. Also, the cold packs last about 12 hours. I only feed my cat wet food so I had to freeze the food for the meals that were needed after 12 hours.
