Presented by the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) and Raspa Magazine, Aquí and Now is an exhibit of queer Latinx voices from across Texas, curated by César Ramos. It is a call to attention to the lives of those who society and government continue to persecute and oppress. The works on display seek to cultivate understanding with the exchange of personal histories and experiences through creative expression. This effort combats the ignorance feeding rampant anti-queer, specifically anti-trans, and anti-immigration legislations in Texas and across the United States.

Presentada por la Oficina de Asuntos Culturales del Alcalde y la revista Raspa, Aquí and Now es una exhibición de voces queer latinx de todo Texas, organizado por César Ramos. Es un llamado de atención a la vida de quienes la sociedad y el gobierno continúan persiguiendo y oprimiendo. Las obras en exhibición buscan cultivar el entendimiento con el intercambio de historias personales y experiencias a través de la expresión creativa. Este esfuerzo combate la ignorancia que alimenta las legislaciones anti-queer, específicamente anti-trans y anti-inmigración desenfrenada en Texas y en todo Estados Unidos.

COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS

We are happy to collaborate with Grand Central Arts Center, Artist-in-Residence, Sarah Rafael García in her creation of SanTana´s Fairy Tales project. This project is an oral history, storytelling project, which integrates community based narratives to create contemporary fairytales and fables that represent the history and stories of Mexican/Mexican-American residents of Santa Ana.
