adidas Consortium is re-releasing one of the Three Stripes’ most iconic models, the ZX 8000 from 1989. Launching in its OG colorway, this Torsion-equipped sneaker was last seen in 2014 and has since become one of adidas‘ coveted ZX models.

Much like the ZX 5000, 6000, 7000 and 9000 models recreated in the past year, the ZX 8000 has been faithfully recreated to reflect the original from 30 years ago. In this retro, adidas Consortium reflected the sneaker’s age by adding lighter hues to its suede, mesh and plastic overlaying panels. The colors — which include “Aqua” alongside yellow and purple tones — give the impression of being “sun-faded” like a well-worn pair of shoes, with OG Trefoil branding to provide another nod to its heritage.

The ZX 8000 features adidas’ familiar Torsion technology, which allows the front and rear of the foot to operate and adapt to surfaces independently while offering support and stability. Furthermore, the shoe is lightweight yet reinforced in targeted strike zones, completed with a padded tongue, reflective patches, and numerous nods to its Torsion technology with branding on the lace locks and outsoles.

Pick up a pair of the adidas Consortium ZX 8000 on November 16 at select adidas Originals stores and Consortium accounts like Sivasdescalzo.

Meanwhile, adidas’ Originals team has unveiled two new Ozweego Tech sneakers.
