The PowerSmith PAVC101 Ash Vacuum is designed to clean warm and cool ash out of fireplaces, wood stoves, pellet stoves, and barbecue grills-something that household vacuum cleaners and regular utility vacs cannot do. The vacuum has a innovative 2-layer filter. The outer layer is heat-resistant, allowing the machine to pick up warm ash up to 140deg F. The inner layer is designed to trap the finest dust and ash. The metal hose and canister on this ash vacuum make the entire system heat-resistant. The motor has an auto-shutoff feature which turns off the machine if heat inside the canister ever reaches dangerous levels. A powerful 10-amp motor is another reason why this ash vacuum doesn't clog like the competition. It also runs at a quiet noise level of only 79 dB! The 5.2-gal. canister holds up to 3 gal. of ash. An ash level indicator shows how full the canister is at any time. The PowerSmith ash vacuum comes equipped with extension wands and a floor and carpet nozzle so it can be used as a regular utility vac. Casters and a 16-ft. extension cord give you lots of mobility. If you switch the hose from the intake port to the exhaust outlet, this vacuum turns into a blower. You get 3 tools in 1: an ash vacuum, a utility vac, and a blower!

Excellent vacuum.  More effective than other shop vacs I've used, and still have and use.  The Power Smith is used to vacuum ash from around the wood stove.  It is not for glowing embers.  The filter is high quality and lasts a long time.  I have had my PS Vaccuum for five years and the filter looks new.

High Quality Ash Vacuum- Reasonably Priced

Have only used it once, but it seems to work exactly as expected. I cleaned out a grill and my fireplace. It removed all ash and any unburned pieces up to the diameter of the nozzle. There is absolutely no ash in the air. The handle is built into the top so you have to carry the motor when you want to dump it, but that seems minor.

Poor quality product with a company that doesn't honor their warranties. Stay away. Ash vac broke in under a year.

Stay away from POWERSMITH

First time I used it it shut off and didn't come back on for over an hour. I got hot and just shut off. Bad design don't waste your money I'm going to return it.

Garbage

Worked OK but not great the first two uses. On the third use it started giving alarming shocks and would not pick up pellets. I dumped the tank and cleaned the filter after each use. I bought an extra filter and tried it but did not help. Sent two emails to the manufacturer on their website and did not hear back. Called and left a message but did not receive a call back. Poor quality vacuum and worthless customer support. I sent it back.

Lacks suction and gives shocks

Broke before 1 year had to replace. Used 3 time and motor froze.
