All you need to do is insert a hydro felt pad under the retaining arm and place your potted herb in one of the containers. Then fill it with water through the spout. This potted herb keeper ensures less water evaporation as the vessel is covered. Just check regularly to see if you need to refill the container as the plant will absorb water through the pads.
