I used this vac on tile and carpeted areas. Did a great job on both. You do have to turn off the roller brush (flip the switch)when you transition from carpet to tile. I would imagine this would also work well for all hard floors-hardwood, laminate,tile. Hope this helps.

It should. I don&#39;t have shag, but our carpet is longer than the stardard length. I adjust the suction to about half power and it seems to do the trick. It&#39;s super easy to adjust the suction- there&#39;s a sliding switch on the hose that regulates the suction force. I like this option much better than the carpet level adjustments other vacs have. You don&#39;t have to stop, lock the vac in upright position then turn a dial. You just slide the button while you&#39;re vacuuming. It makes going from bare floor to carpets a snap.
