Fantastic product at a difficult time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Warning: this is a sad review, but I feel it expresses how important this purchase was for me and my family. My grandfather unexpectedly went into hospice and passed away while my region was locked down due to Covid19 at age 87. When he came home from the hospital, my wife and I were able to get he and my grandmother set up with this 10" Portal from Facebook. He had 5 daughters, 19 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, many of whom were only able to see him a final time over this blessing of a device. My grandmother was able to work it with zero technical ability and the image and audio were clear and never gave her any issues. This product gave my family something you normally can't buy... time with your loved ones before they pass. I personally was able to spend time with him the day before he passed over this device with my family. I will be forever grateful.

Just ok. Good for video calling others.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I only got this device because it was on sale. I picked up two of them, but honestly, it wasn't worth setting up the second one. I will say that the camera tracking ability is impressive and so is the microphone. But I don't find myself doing video calls often enough to say this was a worthy purchase. It only works for Whatsapp or Teams calls though. It also has a physical privacy shutter that you can enable which is A+ design in my opinion. The spotify integration is very limited, I wish I could use the touch screen like an app to select my playlist instead of doing everything by voice. You can also only upload photos to facebook and use those albums. No way to just add it to the device storage itself. I was hoping that these devices would have been jailbroken by now, but they're still locked down. The speaker is decent for playing music and calls and the large gorgeous screen design does make it seem perfect like a picture frame. But again, limited application support has me not using this very often to justify recommending to others, especially since they're all being discontinued.

Portal to home...
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because I was going off to college and wanted to have a way to talk to my family and see them at the same time, but also to keep an eye on my pet bird that I had to leave behind. I kept the device on for most of the day, so it felt like I was still at home. I could hear my family in the background and it was just overall a great buy. I think it's really great and I had no issues. I do wish it wouldn't track focus and stay locked on the whole picture, but oh well. Just fyi, the image shows my perspective of what the portal showed me, while on my laptop using facebook messenger video.

Allows me to seamlessly video with the grandchildren - who are thousands and thousands of miles away - all for free through Whatsapp. Couldn't recommend it more.

Portal going strong!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great machine, I can’t believe how fun it makes for filming, the backgrounds are great and the smart camera is a lot of fun to play with. The VR background on the bike and I the Tripp forest are enlightening. There is a bright future for anyone who gets one of these boxes. Storytime is a great form of storytelling. I find myself involved with what scenes through out the day. I take to family on it alot and it is a great way to keep in-touch. This is a machine built for everyone so come on into Bustbuy an give it a try. You’ll be happy that you did. Hey my review just became a sales pitch! Might as well include a pledge of allegiance to complete the meeting. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america. And to the republic for which it stands. One nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

Q: QuestionI want to communicate with my husband who is in a nursing home that's locked down. The nursing home has WiFi, I have an IPhone; he does not. Do we need 2 portals? What will be the quality of pictures he sees from i phones from the kids and me?
Asked by want2know.
- A:Answer Hi, you don’t need to have 2 portals. You will be able to video call his portal using Facebook messenger on your phone and he will be able to do the same thru the portal. Once you turn it on you just put in his Facebook name and password and he will see a slide show of all his pics as well as any he gets tagged in and he will be able to video call anyone of his Facebook friends by just saying “portal call ...”

Q: QuestionI want to get this for my parents. They do not have smart phones or WiFi., iIf I get this, I would just need to get WiFi right?
Asked by Mary.
- A:Answer Wifi yes.. and also they need a Facebook account to receive a Facebook video call. If they have facebook .. u can do a "shared" picture album where u invite them to a closed group and u both can upload pics from your phone and then it gets shown on yout portal..its pretty neat to display all those pics u taken on your phone and now u can see them on this device

Q: QuestionI want to get one for my mom. She has internet and a facebook account. How would she call people or would they just be able to call her?
Asked by jill.
- A:Answer It’s VERY simple. You have messenger with Facebook. Once the portal is setup.... your mom world be able to talk with anyone that has a Facebook messenger account. She would say, “Hey Portal....call (name) and it calls the person. To answer she e would just touch the button on the screen. Very simple. We bought it for our aunt that has dementia. We just made a sign that says, “Hey portal call .....(list of names). Easy!

Q: QuestionDo you need to go through FB? I as well am looking for a nursing home patient gift. They do not have a FB ACCOUNT
Asked by DLaf.
- A:Answer Yes there has to be a facebook account. We created an email and then a FB account and then sent friend requests to family only. Then added them on the portal. When it is in sleep mode one touch to bring up contacts, one touch on the person they want to call and one touch on the video icon to start the call. We have had pretty good success with it. He loves it because he can see his great grandchildren and his son.

Q: QuestionDo you absolutely need a FB account for video call feature to work?
Asked by Rick.
- A:Answer yes..... you do have to have a Facebook account.... but to my understanding, if you have both parties have the "Whats app" account you should chat and videos chat... i guess it is like the MSN messenger idea... i have not tested this to know for sure.... give it a try, it could be a lot less hassle in doing with a Facebook account in setting up... I hope this helped.. OH ya it does say this on the box of the Portal box that it will work with Whats app.

Q: QuestionI too want something for someone in Nursing Home. They don't have wifi, but a hotspot seems a simple solution, so long as this will work with the wifi frequency provided by the hotspot. Can anyone confirm my thoughts are correct? Thanks,
Asked by MATTexas.
- A:Answer My husband said it will work but it will cost you money through your phone due to the streaming and we have found mom spends more time talking with her children because she can see them. It has worked wonderfully for her but she has internet.
