About

Played by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

With performances from AR Rahman and other musicians from India

A world without AR Rahman would be a world without Bollywood.

Described by Time as ‘the world's most prolific and popular composer', the Indian singer, songwriter, composer and philanthropist has influenced every corner of his home country's cinema culture. In this Asia TOPA exclusive, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will perform the Music of AR Rahman, with the superstar himself taking to the stage as special guest.

Fusing the delicate intricacy of eastern classical composition with the innovations of electronic music and the majesty of traditional orchestral arrangements, AR Rahman's music has earned him two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe.

Featuring signature works such as Jai Ho and Slumdog Millionaire Suite, this one-of-a-kind concert will see the MSO joined by international guest soloists S. Navin on flute and Asad Khan on sitar as well as vocal soloists and an epic 30 voice choir.

    Poor

by Sayeed on 9/8/22Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

If you are sitting at the back, you can’t see anything on the stage. The screen behind the artists kept displaying funny graphics, never showed live image of the artists performing. You had to keep guessing. Artists sang a lot of Malayalam songs, which was a huge turn-off for large non-Malayalam audience.

Live Concert vibe not the same as Game

by MM on 9/2/22Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

First time I visited a Raptors Game and the second time it was A.R. Rahman Live Concert. The stage only was lit at the Concert while complete darkness on the audience. No foods/beverages being served. I expected the same vibe as a game. Hoped to see the screens at the top being working, but they were turned off making it almost impossible to see the performers on stage.

Not worth the price tickets were sold for

by Maha on 9/1/22Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

We could hardly hear AR Rahman himself, vocals were not clear. He song 85% of the concert in Tamil which didn’t do Justin to us who don’t understand it. It was not a sold out concert just because of this I guess .. We couldn’t sell our tickets and unfortunately had to just attend it.. I don’t think I am going next time 😓

by Meenal on 8/31/22Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

This organizer were in disarray and seats were being upgraded last minute! A lot of chaos and long queues. But when the music started everything was alright. It was totally worth the wait.

    Best experience

by Vin on 8/31/22Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

As a young Tamil Canadian born women to see music come to life was magical. Whether it was chayya chayya in Hindi or Humma in Tamil , it was a refreshed sense of pride for me. To be Canadian and hearing music being celebrated with strangers is worth it.
